Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MX2 Team’s Janis Reisulis has posted a career-best overall result of fourth at round seven of the season in Germany. Narrowly missing the overall podium by a single point, J. Reisulis delivered a strong 4-5 result across the two races. Rounding out the top 10 in 10th was teammate and brother Karlis Reisulis who overcame small crashes in both races.
One week on from his impressive showing in France, J. Reisulis maintained the same speed and form at the seventh stop of the season in Germany. With his confidence growing, the younger Reisulis brother placed second in the MX2 Qualifying Race to set the tone for another impressive Grand Prix result.
Ahead of the opening race, rain had fallen, which made the deeply rutted Teutschenthal circuit even more technical. Knowing a strong start was essential, J. Reisulis was fast to react when the start gate fell and soon moved into fourth. A race-long battle with Camden McLellan then began, with J. Reisulis shadowing his rival for the remaining laps. Crossing the finish line in fourth equalled his best race result to date, with his focus quickly shifting to Race Two.
Track conditions were still tricky for the second race and once again, the Yamaha YZ250FM rider executed the essential good start that he needed. In this one, the talented youngster moved into fifth on the opening lap and then fended off pressure from behind for the remainder of the race. Placing fifth underlined J. Reisulis’ consistency with the MX2 class rookie remaining seventh in the series standings.
K. Reisulis also showed impressive speed in both races, but small crashes in each one proved costly. On the day, he posted a consistent 10-12 result for 10th overall, and he now sits ninth in the MX2 World Championship.
Up next for the teammates is their home Grand Prix. The MXGP of Latvia takes place next weekend at the sandy circuit of Kegums, near Riga, marking the eighth round of the season.

“Fourth overall is my best result of the season so far, but being just one point away from the podium is a little painful. Still, it was a solid weekend. I stayed on two wheels across both days, which is always important, and I was able to put together two consistent races. That consistency is something we want to carry into the next round in Latvia, so there are plenty of positives to take away from this weekend.”

“It wasn’t the best weekend for me. In the first moto, I got a great start and although I dropped back a little in the early laps, my riding felt good until I crashed. Aside from that, it was a solid race. The second race didn’t start so well as I crashed on the opening lap, which made things difficult. After that, I just focused on bringing it home because I struggled to find my rhythm. It was a tough GP but there are definitely positives to take away from the weekend.”
