The FIM Superbike World Championship resumed this weekend after its summer break with Round 9 of the 2025 championship from the Circuit de Nevers, Magny-Cours.
It was an event of significance for Yamaha as it posed the first opportunity to win the 2025 FIM Supersport World Championship Manufacturers’ Title in the R9’s first year of competition, which was secured on Sunday after an emphatic double victory for Pata Yamaha Ten Kate’s Stefano Manzi.
In the WorldSBK class, hopes were high with Andrea Locatelli locked in battle for third in the championship standings. Strong pace on Friday suggested the Italian could have a rewarding weekend, but a costly mistake in Superpole held him back. Meanwhile, team-mate Jonathan Rea returned to the paddock for the first time after announcing his retirement and demonstrated he’ll be fighting until the end with a strong performance, especially in Race 2.
