• Second place overall for Alessandro Lupino in Arco di Trento
Two months after the round of the FIM Motocross World Championship held in Trentino, the Beddini Racing Ducati Team returns to the Pietramurata track, for the fourth round of the Italian Pro Prestige Motocross Championship, fielding Alessandro Lupino in MX1 and Simone Mancini in MX2. Qualifying third in practice, Alessandro Lupino managed to secure an excellent second place in race one, at the end of a battled moto that saw him make a strong comeback from sixth place on his #77 Desmo450 MX bike. Seventh at the start of the second moto, the Italian rider managed to climb to fourth place, taking the second step of the podium. This second podium finish of the season allows Lupino to consolidate his third place in the championship, closing the gap on the top spot.
In MX2, Mancini, fourth in his group at the end of timed practice, finished the first heat in sixth place, after a start outside the top 10 at the first turn. A technical problem at the start of the second heat relegated the Italian rider to the back of the pack. With his Desmo250 MX, Simone managed to climb back up to ninth place, finishing the day in seventh place overall, a result that allowed him to maintain his fourth position in the Elite MX2 championship.
Alessandro Lupino: “I’m finally back on the podium after the first race in Ottobiano, but I’m not completely satisfied with my riding. Unfortunately, just as I was recovering from my injury in Maggiora, I sprained my ankle badly during last Thursday’s final practice. I grit my teeth and managed to ride a good race in the first heat; unfortunately, however, I struggled much more in the second and wasn’t able to perform at my best. Now let’s focus on healing so we can return to Faenza in the best possible way. The championship is still long and we’re all very close.”
Simone Mancini: “The fourth round of the Italian Championship didn’t go the way I wanted. I struggled a bit with the bike in some sections of the track, but after a complicated start in race one, I recovered to sixth place. In the second heat, due to a problem with the launch control device, I started near last, climbing up to ninth place, posting some good times in the final stages. It’s a shame the starts affected the final result, but we’ll make up for it soon.”
