Loïc Larrieu Claims Victory At GP Of Germany

Battling for coveted class wins throughout 2018, Loïc Larrieu has claimed the Enduro 2 class victory on the second day of racing at the GP of Germany. Enjoying a strong season aboard his WR450F, the Outsiders Yamaha Official Enduro Team rider has secured the runner-up spot in the 2018 FIM Enduro 2 World Championship’s final standings.

Taking place in Rudersdorf, outside Berlin, the 2018 Enduro World Championship season finale featured a total of 21 special tests contested during the two-day competition. Loïc Larrieu enjoyed the best possible start to the race weekend in Germany, topping the short opening SuperTest on Friday evening.

Making some small mistakes in the opening lap of day one, the Frenchman pushed hard during the remaining two laps on Saturday to regain the time lost. Topping three tests along the way, Loïc claimed a close second on day one, finishing less than 10 seconds behind the day’s winner Eero Remes.

Coming back stronger on day two, Loïc Larrieu earned the provisional lead after test two and never looked back. Finishing 32 seconds ahead of runner-up Remes, the Frenchman earned a well-deserved Enduro 2 class victory on Sunday.

One of the most consistent competitors in the 2018 Enduro 2 World Championship, Larrieu wrapped up his season with 11 podium results and a win on the very last day of the season.

2nd Day 1 / 1st Day 2

“It was a difficult GP but I am happy with the win on day two. Conditions were dusty throughout the weekend and there were lots of bumps and hidden stones in the special tests. After my win in the SuperTest I made a few mistakes in the opening lap on day one. I did my best to come back and won some tests along the way, but still it was difficult to close the gap to the day’s winner. Then on day two I felt stronger and pushed hard from the start. Physically it was harder but I was determined to give my best for the win and I was happy to finally make it happen. It was unfortunate that Alex [Salvini] was unable to score any points after his DNF, but that allowed me to gain one position in the championship standings where I finished second. I have been really close to the victory throughout the season and I was excited that I finally managed to get it on the very last day of racing in 2018. It is good to end this championship with a win. Now our eyes are focused on the ISDE. I will be representing Team France, we have a strong team and we will do our best to fight for the win in Chile.”
