2000 Suzuki GSX-R750V – 6th Generation Suzuki GSX-R750: Lighter, Stronger and Faster
The 16th year and 6th model Generation of the GSX-R750 featured new everything!
New engine, new chassis, new aerodyamic bodywork, 30mm lower in overall height, longer swingarm, longer wheelbase, 4-piston brakes (versus the the 6-piston of 1999), 5.5″ smaller rear rim, shorter and narrower engine with redesigned fuel-injection and 13 kg lighter (166 kg). What wasn’t there to like?
The new engine: Much smaller yet stronger motor, upgraded fuel injection, redesigned narrower cylinder head with straighter intake tracts, stainless steel 4 into 1 exhaust, lighter stronger engine components and covers, increased cooling capacity, bigger air box, better ram air. The engine featured 12 degree intake valves and 13 degree exhaust valves, both one degree narrower for even more compact combustion area, enabling a high 12.0 compression ratio with a smaller 7.5mm magnesium cylinder head. For both strength and weight reduction cylinders are one piece with the upper distinct three-piece design crankcase. Engine is now 15mm shorter in length and 8 mm narrower in width and 5 kg lighter.
A new electronic fuel injection system with double valve rider controlled throttle valve and the electronically controlled valve increases torque and power as well as increasing combustion efficiency that contributes to cleaner exhaust emission as well. The new frame is lighter while the swing arm has been lengthened 20 mm and the wheelbase is kept at 1400 mm for better handling and traction control.
Other features included: More aerodynamic bodywork, smaller frontal area, redesigned instrument cluster, new LCD information (odometer, coolant temperature, clock).

2001 Suzuki GSX-R750K1
If there was ever a family of motorcycles that “owned the racetrack” the GSX-R line is it. Not surprising considering the thousands of GSX-R motorcycles sold worldwide since the model’s inception, and their popularity at all levels of roadracing. Now, the new generation of GSX-R motorcycles is complete with a new 600 supersport contender and an open-class machine with the best power-to-weight ratio in its class. Rounding out the supersport line is the TL1000R – a V-twin-powered machine with outstanding performance on the street or the track.
GSX-R750: THE BENCHMARK
It’s hard to believe that a 750cc machine could perform as well or better than a 1000cc sportbike. But that’s just what the 2000 GSX-R750 proved it could do; running with or outrunning the competition’s best open-class models. The GSX-R750’s impressive power-to-weight ratio and advancements in steering and straight-line tracking performance, have once again proven it to be the benchmark from which other sportbikes are judged. For 2001 the GSX-R750 carries on unchanged, but gives birth to two equally impressive GSX-R models.
The GSX-R750’s 4-stroke, four-cylinder, 16-valve liquid-cooled engine is extremely light and compact. The engine size and weight are primarily the result of a small, lightweight cylinder head with a narrow 25¼ valve angle, hollow camshafts, light forged pistons and shot-peened connecting rods, narrow crankshaft journal diameter and a one-piece cylinder block and upper crankcase section. Combining the cylinders with the upper crankcase makes the assembly strong, light and allows internal routing of lubricating oil, eliminating external oil hoses. To gain more power and improve throttle response, a 16-bit electronic control module is used to operate the fuel injection system which consists of tapered throttle bodies that provide a steep fuel injector spray angle, plus a servo-controlled secondary throttle valve system, (SDTV), to maintain correct intake air velocity.
The chassis centers around a compact aluminum alloy frame with a long swingarm designed for more weight distribution on the front wheel. The frame’s optimal torsional-rigidity-to-weight ratio and steering geometry provide excellent turn in ability, rear-wheel traction and straight-line tracking on the race track. The suspension consists of fully adjustable 43mm inverted forks with 125mm of wheel travel and a fully adjustable aluminum-bodied shock absorber. The front brake calipers are a four-piston design with lightweight aluminum pistons. Lightweight 17″ wheels and radial tires have also been developed for the GSX-R with a narrow 5.5 inch rear wheel and 180-size rear tire. Topping off the package is aerodynamic bodywork with large ram-air inlets, a narrow headlight assembly and a compact digital instrument cluster.
Features included: Increased 54.5 degrees maximum leaning angle. The 43mm inverted fork and the 46mm-piston rear shock are both fully adjustable. 320mm-disc front brakes with lightweight 4-piston calipers: 220mm-disc rear brake with a twin-opposed-piston caliper. Lightweight 17-inch wheels with radial tires developed specifically for the GSX-R750.

GSX-R750: SUPERBIKE BENCHMARK
Once again the Suzuki GSX-R750 is by far the best performing and most technologically advanced 750cc sportbike in its class. A host of changes have been made to the already potent GSX-R750 in 2002, including a fully adjustable swingarm pivot system, both headlights now operate in the low beam position, new bolt-on bungee hooks, and a new polished stainless steel exhaust pipe. In addition, the secondary throttle valve is now driven by a throttle body-mounted stepping motor resulting in reduced weight and more precise control of the SDTV system. The impressive power-to-weight ratio, rock solid chassis and proven performance make the GSX-R750 the benchmark from which other 750 sportbikes are judged.
The GSX-R750 introduces two new looks for 2002, while still retaining the incredible performance and style of the GSX-R series. The 4-stroke, 4-cylinder, 16-valve liquid-cooled engine features a lightweight compact design including: narrow 25 degree valve angle, hollow camshafts, forged pistons, shot-peened connecting rods, narrow crankshaft journal diameter, and a one-piece cylinder block and upper crankcase section. The combination of the cylinders and the upper crankcase unit create a strong and lightweight assembly and allows for the internal routing of lubricating oil, eliminating external oil hoses. A sixteen-bit electronic control module operates the precise fuel injection system, assuring strong horsepower and smooth throttle response. The unique Suzuki Dual Throttle Valve System (SDTV), and tapered throttle bodies provide a steep fuel injector spray angle and maintain correct intake air velocity for maximum performance.
A strong engine is nothing without a strong chassis and the GSX-R750 does not disappoint. The chassis is based around a lightweight and compact aluminum-alloy frame with a long swingarm designed to distribute more weight to the front wheel. The 2004 Suzuki GSX-R750 is a refined version of the 2000-2003 model years. Updates include: 32bit ECU from 16 bit, titanium valves, new body work, black powdercoated frame and swingarm, and radial brakes.
The Suzuki GSX-R750 is more than just a motorcycle it is the cornerstone of the GSX-R line. Indeed, it is the original GSX-R. When the original GSX-R750 was introduced in 1985, it established an entirely new class of machine. The GSX-R750 took over the grid in production-based road racing worldwide, becoming the racebike of
choice for an entire generation of roadracers.
And now, Suzuki introduces the all-new 2004 GSX-R750. Since the beginning, the GSX-R750 has been about overall balance of handling and engine performance. For 2004, the GSX-R750 takes that balance to an entirely new level with an improved compact, lightweight design that creates an awesome combination of handling, performance and style.
Sharing the chassis with the GSX-R600, the 2004 Suzuki GSX-R750 has a new motor with lightweight pistons, new cams, titanium valves and a new cylinder head and increased compression ratio, increasing horsepower to 130 bhp.Weight is lowered to 163 kg due to a new 15mm narrower frame. Four-caliper Tokico brakes at the front, the narrower bodywork shares the overall look of the 2004 GSX-R600.
