Moto3 Indonesian Grand Prix José Antonio Rueda wins 2025 Riders World Championship title

The KTM rider takes the win, sets a new race lap record and secures the world title with four rounds to spare; Moreira dominates Moto2™ using the soft development rear tyre

· By winning the Moto3™ race at the Indonesian Grand Prix, Spain’s José Antonio Rueda (KTM) mathematically secured the 2025 Riders World Championship title in the category with four rounds still to go. Rueda started with medium SC2 tyres both front and rear and, on lap seven, also set a new race lap record of 1’37.255, improving by almost seven tenths the previous record set by Daniel Holgado in 2024. Behind him, finishing in order, were Luca Lunetta (Honda), who used soft-compound SC1 tyres on both axles, and Guido Pini (KTM), who ran the same compounds as the winner.

· Victory for Diogo Moreira (Kalex) in the Moto2™ class, where the Brazilian rider set the pace from the opening laps and crossed the finish line ahead of Manuel Gonzalez (Kalex) and Izan Guevara (Boscoscuro). The soft development rear tyre in the E0125 specification was once again the dominant choice on the grid, used by almost all riders in combination with the standard soft SC1 front. The only exception was Darryn Binder (Kalex), who opted for the standard SC0 rear. On lap three, Daniel Holgado (Kalex) clocked in at 1’33.104, establishing a new race lap record that improved by more than seven tenths on Aron Canet’s 2024 achievement.

· Both races were held in extremely high asphalt temperatures, exceeding 60°C, making this the hottest Grand Prix of the year and one of the hottest in the history of the World Championship.

· Despite the intense heat, both classes recorded significantly faster race paces compared to last year: in Moto3™ the improvement was over six tenths, while in Moto2™ it was about eight tenths, with an overall reduction of almost 18 seconds in total race time.

Record-breaking performance despite extreme temperatures; congratulations to new champion Rueda

“First of all, let me congratulate José Antonio Rueda who, with four races still to go, clinched his first Moto3™ World Championship title. With today’s comeback, from ninth on the grid to victory, he once again proved his talent. Like most of the Moto3™ riders, Rueda opted for medium-compound SC2 tyres both front and rear, a combination that offered excellent wear protection while still delivering very competitive lap times, as shown by the improved race pace and the new lap record he set on lap seven. Those who chose the softer SC1 combination were also able to rely on solid performance, as evidenced by Lunetta’s second place. In Moto2™, as already anticipated yesterday, the E0125 soft rear was the near-unanimous choice. This solution held up well over the race distance under the extreme stress of the high track temperatures, enabling significant improvements both in pace and in the race lap record. The Indonesian Grand Prix once again proved to be a demanding test for the tyres, and we’re satisfied with the results, especially considering the extremely hot conditions we raced in.”
