ITALIAN STYLE. AMERICAN FLAIR
2019 MV Agusta Dragster 800 RR America:
A tribute to the United States as well as to the history of the brand, the Brutale America sports the same graphics on the tank that appeared on the 1973 750 S.
The name “America” holds a prominent place in the MV Agusta heritage. The primary reference is to the “S America 750”, a model that dates back to 1975 and which boasted an in-line four-cylinder engine with dual overhead camshaft, 75 horsepower and air cooling. More than 25 years later, it was the first Brutale, the four-cylinder designed by Massimo Tamburini, to revive the name “America” with an immediately recognisable colour scheme: red, white and blue. Fast forward to the year 2012, it was time for another rendition of the Brutale America, also on a four-cylinder platform.
The very first three-cylinder Brutale America was introduced last year. Precisely because of the success of this version, the CRC workshop conceived a new interpretation on the Dragster 800 RR platform. This brand new “America” reiterates the attractive colour scheme on a mica blue base with iridescent reflections and horizontal graphic cuts that enhance the original characteristics of the Dragster 800 RR: irreverent design, top shelf technical features and as always an extreme attention to detail.
The upper part of the fuel tank is adorned with stars, just like on the 750 S from forty-five years ago. The saddle boasts stitching with gold highlights and unique materials for the areas dedicated to the rider and the passenger. The beautiful spoke wheels pay homage to the colours of the American flag: blue hub, red spokes and white rim.
The glossy black finish of some components stands out, such as the front mudguard with the MV Agusta logo and the side of the radiator with the “America Special Edition” decal which also graces the instrument cluster cover along with the progressive production number. The MV Agusta Dragster 800 RR America will be made in a limited edition of just 200 units, accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.
2019 MV Agusta Dragster 800 RR America Totalmotorcycle.com Key Features
Original, irreverent and uncompromising, the Dragster 800 RR has undergone a complete re-design with the 2018 Model Year. The central area of the bike is the focus of the design, rich with stylistic nuances that make it dynamic and aggressive. The tail fairing appears essential, almost hidden, thanks in part to the retractable passenger footpegs. The LED rear light cluster is an absolutely original element with a sharply three-dimensional look thanks to the shape and the DRL (Daylight Running Lights). The front end is characteristically compact and noteworthy, from a technical point of view, due to the unique solution of the integrated steering damper built into the upper triple clamp.
The engine is derived from the Brutale 800 RR and is Euro 4 approved. The continuous development of this lightweight and versatile three-cylinder has, over the years, led to optimisation of combustion, perfecting electronic throttle management and increasing the already outstanding performance while, at the same time, decreasing mechanical noise and vibrations. The gearbox engages the gears more quickly and it is incredibly precise and reliable. It uses EAS 2.0 “Up and Down” electronically assisted shifting, part of a rich electronics package that includes adjustable traction control and customisable engine maps.
2019 MV Agusta Dragster 800 RR America Totalmotorcycle.com Features and Benefits
UPDATED ENGINE
The special version was developed from the Brutale 800 RR. The inline three-cylinder engine has been completely updated for better performance and ease of use: new gearbox, primary gears, electronic engine management and traction control algorithms.
The engine is characterised by extremely compact dimensions and features MotoGP-derived technology with a counter-rotating crankshaft.
RACE-TRACK TECHNOLOGY TAKEN TO THE STREET
Brutale America’s inline three engine is a clear example of race track technology applied to production motorcycles. The overall compactness, the extremely contained weight, the counter-rotating crankshaft – a world premiere by MV Agusta on a three-cylinder – reducing inertia for directional changes, improving the effectiveness of corner entry: it all adds up to better performance and intuitive handling.
RIDING THE EXCELLENCE
110 hp at 11,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 83Nm at 7,600rpm (25% more than on the previous version) 90% of which is available starting from 3,800rpm: the best possible balance between ease-of-handling and performance.
BE IN CONTROL
The MVICS electronic management system, developed to MV Agusta’s own specifications, includes the inertial platform and Ride by Wire throttle control. The 4 engine maps, three pre-set and one customisable, help the Brutale America make the most in all conditions. 8-level traction control allows maximum performance and safety whatever the conditions of the road.
SAFETY MATTERS
The latest generation, two-channel BOSCH 9 PLUS ABS is compact and extremely lightweight, two features that make it ideal for a sports naked. The RLM (Rear Wheel Lift-up Mitigation), regulates the action of the front brake in order to keep the rear wheel on the ground even under extreme braking conditions.
