2023 Norton V4SV: REWARDING AS IT IS THRILLING.
Introducing the 2023 Norton V4SV…
The new re-engineered V4SV is the most luxurious British superbike ever created. The only British built and designed superbike in production. The speed, the handling, the feeling… nothing comes close to it. The Isle of Man TT is where the V4SV was imagined; the road is where it was born.
As one of the most successful manufacturers at the TT, our relationship with the formidable road race is legendary. From Joey’s, Ballacrain and Laurel Bank, Norton’s fearless riders have conquered it all – their names etched into motorsport history.
Imagery is featuring the V4SV with a non-homologated track exhaust. Final specification may vary.
Today, that feeling is replicated with the V4SV. Every sense is heightened for one of the purest riding experiences out there. It’s a buzz that others will never quite understand. From the moment the engine starts, freedom is released. When the helmet is on, everything else just disappears.
Behind every detail of the V4SV is over 100 years of racing success and mastery of design and engineering. All beautifully reimagined into a superior bike for the road, precision and quality tested to the limits. A stunning homage to our TT racer for a ride as rewarding as it is thrilling.
We’ve combined our extensive racing experience with everything we know a rider demands from a road bike. With V4SV we’ve raised the bar higher than ever before.

From a distance, it’s a breathtaking feat of engineering. But it’s on closer inspection that the true story behind the V4SV unfolds. Each component has been elegantly crafted to offer more than just functionality. There’s an attention to detail that takes riders further, adrenaline-fueled at every horizon.
THE BIKE SHED X NORTON EVENT: V4SV IN THE SPOTLIGHT
On Friday 30th September, Norton Motorcycles hosted an event at the Bike Shed Motorcycle Club.
On Friday 30th September, Norton Motorcycles hosted an event at the Bike Shed Motorcycle Club. The event gave us an opportunity to share details on a number of things. The first was a new relationship with The Bike Shed. This is a long term partnership that will allow fans of both Norton Motorcycles and The Bike Shed to combine their passion for both.
Next on the agenda for the evening was an overview of the realities of automotive production given global events over the last 24 months. Recently appointed Chief Commercial Officer, Christian Gladwell, highlighted how the global pandemic and various geopolitical challenges including conflict has not just impacted Norton, but the majority of UK based automotive industry.
Following this, one of Norton’s powertrain engineers took to the stage to help guests in the room understand the engine durability testing process for the 1200cc V4. There’s been an extensive overhaul in all testing processes and invited guests in the room enjoyed hearing more about the work Norton is doing.
Next up on stage was Norton’s new Head of Communications, John Hogan. John joins Norton Motorcycles at an exciting time and brings a wealth of understanding of the motorcycle industry with him. John and Christian then shared a sneak peak of a Norton motorcycle that is being launched before Christmas.
The remainder of the evening was spent talking with journalists, invited guests and Bike Shed members in the room. Seeing deposit holders that had flown in from Scotland, or driven and ridden from hours away specifically for the event was a sure sign of the commitment and loyalty to Norton that has remained steadfast.
FAQs from the evening:
1. Why is it taking so long to fulfil V4SV deliveries?
It’s a combination of things that has impacted the wider automotive industry. Material shortages, production issues, geopolitical tensions and the logistical effort required to build a new factory capable of meeting the demands of Norton today and in the future.
2. Can you give me an exact delivery date for my V4SV?
Admittedly, we’ve overcommitted with delivery dates in the past, without taking into account the realities listed in the question above. The last thing we want to do is repeat this and for that reason, we were intentionally broad with our previous communication to deposit holders in September. It is our intention to begin deliveries of the V4SV in 2023. If we announced an exact date and then suffered the same issues we’ve had to deal with in 2022, we’d be repeating the past. This is something we’re simply not willing to do.
3. It sounds like there’s a new model being launched by Norton before Christmas, surely the time would be better spent sorting the V4 backlog than working on a separate model?
Norton Motorcycles has already begun the journey into the future. Building a brand new factory, equipping ourselves with some of the most high tech testing equipment available and then staffing the factory with the best talent in the industry is means that we’re able to work towards multiple goals at the same time. Developing new models in tandem with dealing with the legacy of the V4 isn’t what’s caused the delays we’ve suffered from.
4. I’ve heard that people are able to come to the factory for a tour now, is this something I can do?
Absolutely. One of the areas we discussed at The Bike Shed was how much we’re looking forward to starting factory tours. If you have an order for a bike, it would be our pleasure to show you around the Solihull factory at a time and date that’s convenient for both us and for you. If you don’t have an order for a Norton motorcycle, that’s no problem, we’d still love to see you although priority will always be given to customers with a firm order. You can get in touch with us to arrange this and we look forward to seeing you at Norton HQ soon.
THE RE-ENGINEERED V4SV IS NOW AVAILABLE
It is a hugely proud moment to announce that customers can now buy the re-engineered V4SV. I would like to thank the Norton team, customers and fans for their continued support for joining us on this journey in bringing Norton and the V4SV to life. Norton has always been and will always remain a design lead brand, which is why this bike is undoubtedly the most beautiful on the market. It’s more than just looks, though. It is the ultimate British superbike, a bike that will excite riders from the moment they get on, to the moment they get off. However, this is just the beginning for us when it comes to taking this iconic brand forward.
Two years of Norton and TVS
The start of sales of our V4SV is a huge milestone, though it’s a culmination of a number of achievements over the last two years since TVS acquired Norton. Let’s take a look back over those big moments…
NEW NORTON HQ AT SOLIHULL
A new home
TVS acquired Norton Motorcycles in April 2020 and immediately set about breathing life, and investment, back into the iconic marque. Within 18 months of ownership, and against a backdrop of challenging pandemic conditions, that commitment saw the opening of a brand-new headquarters in Solihull, right at the heart of the UK’s automotive hub.
This 7,300 sqm state-of-the-art manufacturing facility is the most advanced in Norton’s 124-year history and has transformed the way we work, uniting production, R&D, quality control and the leadership team together under one roof, with the capacity to deliver up to 8,000 motorcycles per year.
IN 2021, WE OPENED OUR BRAND-NEW HEADQUARTERS IN SOLIHULL, UK.
Norton’s electric future
Last week, we were awarded funding by Advanced Propulsion Centre (APC) 19 to begin our electrification journey. APC 19 is an initiative which aims to assist businesses in the automotive sector in advancing their low-carbon offering while helping to accelerate the UK towards a net-zero automotive future.
Norton is the lead company in a consortium which won a competitive process to revolutionise sustainable personal transportation. For this 30-month project, Zero Emission Norton, we will work with specialist partners to develop world-class technology and products that will enhance the UK supply chain for all the critical components in electric vehicle (EV) technology including batteries, motors, chassis, cooling oils and vehicle to home chargers.
Project Zero Emission Norton is a clear example of our commitment to innovation, and will move Norton in an exciting and sustainable direction. This project will also create a significant number of jobs in the UK in manufacturing and R&D as well as upskilling existing staff to be capable of electric motorcycle engineering.
NORTON HAS BEEN AWARDED SIGNIFICANT GOVERNMENT FUNDING TO BEGIN OUR ELECTRIFICATION JOURNEY
Quality assurance
To achieve the levels of quality and performance that is expected from Norton, we have invested heavily in a dedicated quality team. Over the last two years, that team has scrutinised over 20,000 parts, using both hand and advanced technologies, to ensure they’re of the highest quality and suitable to be used on any Norton.
In addition, we’ve grown a testing and development team which is there to ensure new models are put through a rigorous testing regime before customers ride them. So far, they have covered over 70,000 miles of physical riding on track and road. Also, to ensure uncompromised levels of quality, handling and power on the road, the testing and development team has taken the V4SV through extensive and repeated testing at Norton’s trusted pave track in the UK, made up of cobbled stones and varied surfaces.
OUR QUALITY TEAM APPLY INDUSTRY-LEADING STANDARDS TO THE INSPECTION AND TESTING OF ALL NORTON MOTORCYCLES
Design integrity
Using innovative techniques including 3D printing and virtual reality, our design team has been able to expedite a design and development methodology which blends the best of the iconic brand with the modern technology. The Norton design team is planned to grow by 75% over the next 12 months to ensure the re-engineered and future models are worthy of the Norton name.
WE HAVE IMPLEMENTED 3D PRINTING AND VIRTUAL REALITY INTO OUR DESIGN PROCESSES AT NORTON MOTORCYCLES.
New jobs generated
As well as investing in our facility, we have invested significantly in our talented team, creating more than 100 new jobs with a further 250-300 direct jobs and another 500-800 indirect in the supply chain predicted over the next three years. Part of this job expansion also includes growing an apprenticeship programme with local education industries to provide career opportunities for the local community.
NORTON HAS CREATED OVER 100 NEW JOBS WITH A FURTHER 250-300 PLANNED FOR THE NEXT THREE YEARS
