Feel more at one with the MT-09 than ever before, focus on the adrenaline-inducing acceleration and super-precise handling with lightning-fast 0.1-second gear changes, delivered through a sporty and slick finger-operated shift (MT) or fully automatic transmission (AT). Aggressive minimalist bodywork
Embodying a pure ‘less is more’ approach, the Hyper Naked styling combines aggressive yet minimalist bodywork. The bi-functional LED headlamp is enclosed in a cover, creating a compact and unified relationship with the fuel tank, which commands an engaged, slightly forward-leaning riding position while maintaining the sharp and edgy aesthetic that is synonymous with the MT name.
Torque-rich EU5+ 890cc CP3 engine
The remarkable, liquid-cooled, three-cylinder engine is light and powerful, offering high torque at low rpm. The acoustic harmony which results from a combination of the induction sound and exhaust note gives the CP3 its recognisable roar, which heightens the feeling of acceleration. The fuel injectors give increased efficiency, while optimised gear ratios and a refined A&S (assist and slipper) clutch match the high output of the engine.
Acoustic amplifier grilles for an enhanced riding experience
The grin-inducing roar of the MT-09 is one of its most defining characteristics, evoking a sense of pure adrenaline with every twist of the throttle. The MT-09 features specifically designed air-intake ducts which accentuate the high frequency sounds, which are then emphasised, especially at higher speed, by an acoustic amplifier grille on top of the fuel tank, delivering the CP3’s vibrant note directly to you.
6-axis IMU and lean-sensitive rider aids
Developed from the R1, the compact six-axis IMU controls the MT-09’s high-tech rider aids including a three-mode Traction Control System (TCS), Slide Control System (SCS), front wheel Lift Control System (LIF) and Brake Control System. This best-in-class technology also features a Back Slip Regulator (BSR), which offers stabilisation when the rear wheel locks under excessive braking by controlling the level of torque produced.
Customisable ride modes with Yamaha Ride Control settings
Customise your riding experience via Yamaha Ride Control (YRC), which works simultaneously alongside the Y-AMT, allowing you to select engine power characteristics and the level of electronic intervention to suit your preferences and road conditions. Three integrated riding modes are programmed with factory settings to suit different situations: SPORT, STREET and RAIN; but you can also create two custom programmes to suit your individual preferences. The YRC settings can be customised directly in the dashboard menu or on your smartphone via the MyRide app.
Lightweight CF die-cast aluminium frame
The compact CF (controlled filling) die-cast aluminium frame design is a modern take on the iconic Deltabox layout, providing a high level of chassis stiffness for excellent rider feedback and stability. Its optimised swingarm pivot structure and light and slim chassis give a laidback feel, making the MT-09 a perfect partner for both short and long rides.
Adjustable suspension and latest generation tyres
Fully adjustable 41mm front forks run with optimised settings that match the character of the compact, high-rigidity frame, achieving excellent stability and offering a smooth and controlled ride. The adjustable rear suspension features multiple settings, as well as a linkage designed to deliver a dynamic feeling in cornering. Bridgestone Battlax Hypersport S23 M tyres fitted on Yamaha’s SpinForged wheels offer high grip and light handling, ensuring you can get the most from the torque-packed acceleration.
Brembo radial master cylinder
In order to match the MT-09’s high torque and acceleration, stopping power comes from a Brembo radial master cylinder, which produces a linear supply of pressure to the four-piston calipers mounted to the dual 298mm front discs, offering outstanding braking performance with fingertip control.
Full colour 5-inch TFT display with connectivity and navigation
Full colour 5-inch TFT instruments provide an option of four different themes to suit your individual requirements and riding situation, which you can scroll through using the intuitive handlebar switches. You can also link your smartphone to the TFT screen via the free MyRide app to receive message notifications, calls and listen to music*. Full map navigation is also available through the free Garmin StreetCross app to make each ride easier. *Requires Bluetooth-connected headset linked to the MT-09. Headset not included.
Intuitive switchgear, self-cancelling indicators and Emergency Stop Signalling (ESS)
Integrated handlebar switch assemblies enable operation of the MT-09’s wide range of functions, including smartphone connectivity, navigation and riding modes as well as exploring further menu options. Intuitive turn signal functions further enhance the riding experience. A soft click of the indicator switch will flash the turn signals three times for use when changing lanes, while a full click makes them flash continuously. The indicators will also self-cancel once 15 seconds have passed and the bike has travelled for more than 150 metres. The Emergency Stop Signalling (ESS) will also engage the indicators when the system detects sudden braking.

Quick Shift System (QSS)
The up and down Quick Shifter System enhances the sport riding experience by enabling super-fast upshifts for outstanding acceleration. The downshift function allows smoother shifting to maintain chassis stability even when cornering, to give a more controlled feel when decelerating.
