From the Manufacturer: 2027 Moto Guzzi Motorcycle Guide

THIS IS MOTO GUZZI

NOT A NEW FACTORY,

NOT A NEW MUSEUM.

THIS IS HOME,

THIS IS MOTO GUZZI.

Moto Guzzi roars into its second century with a visionary project, opening the door to a new experience spanning industry, museum and culture.
A place that encapsulates a unique history, one which shapes the future.

The new home of Moto Guzzi in Mandello del Lario is inaugurated, designed by American architect Greg Lynn, and ranks among the most ambitious in the recent history of industrial architecture.

It is not merely a new factory, nor simply a museum – rather, it is a place where ingenuity, technology, legend and passion combine, generating new ideas which serve as the foundation for imagining and building the future.

In the same place where Moto Guzzi was first founded 105 years ago, tucked between the mountains and the lake, the American designer, who counts the Venice Architecture Biennale Golden Lion among his accolades, has conceived a multifunctional hub where innovation, experimentation and history meet, creating a unique cultural location. A visionary project that paves the way for a completely new experience, blending technology and design to create a harmonious, futuristic space.

Moto Guzzi’s new home goes far beyond its original purpose of manufacturing the brand’s famous motorcycles and preserving its heritage. It is a place designed for creating, experimenting, enjoying experiences and inspiring emotions. A place where ideas meet and different visions are exchanged, where the love for a historic brand goes hand in hand with a vision of the future, bringing it to life.

This one-of-a-kind location, set within a landscape of extraordinary beauty, will be Moto Guzzi’s new home, where the brand will welcome visitors for the next 105 years – as many as have passed since 1921, the year the company was founded.

The new production facility, designed with an unwavering focus on environmental sustainability and the efficient use of resources, is located within the same industrial site where Moto Guzzi has always manufactured its motorbikes. The red gate on Via Parodi, the entrance for Moto Guzzi’s technicians, workers, engineers and riders since 1921 which has become a place of pilgrimage for motorcyclists from all over the world, will remain in its place as a symbol of continuity, symbolising the company’s unique history. But beyond this iconic entrance, after nearly five years of work, there is now a state-of-the-art factory, set to serve as a new global benchmark for the motorcycling industry.

This manufacturing facility is located at the heart of the original site, transforming it completely whilst preserving a sense of harmony and respect for the brand’s history and original architecture. It features 5,500 square metres of new industrial buildings (making a total of 38,000 square metres of factory space) and 380 square metres of offices.

The cutting-edge automated engine assembly lines are not the result of the refurbishment of existing structures: instead, they are part of an entirely new plant, boasting the very latest technologies.

The final motorcycle assembly line is connected to the engine workshop by a sophisticated, fully robotised conveyor system. Here, at the end of the production line, the motorbikes are collected by Kilo robots, designed and built in Boston by Piaggio Fast Forward (PFF), before being sent for final testing. The entire production process adheres to the most exacting quality standards at every stage of manufacture.

Adjacent to the factory, in a series of brand-new spaces, is the new home of the Moto Guzzi Museum. The new 3,000-square-metre building that houses it is inspired by the technical, metallic visual language of the motorcycles created in Mandello, and many of the shapes and finishes in the spacious, light-filled exhibition areas echo the details that characterise bikes themselves, creating a visual and material link between the architecture and the brand’s identity.

The light from the foothills of the Alps and the lake takes centre stage, flooding the new premises. The unique design of the exhibition spaces and the contemporary layout is set to offer visitors a fresh perspective on the brand’s history and evolution, bringing vital energy to Moto Guzzi’s industrial heritage and renewing the social and economic impact it has had on the local area for more than a century. The expansive exhibition halls will host events that will transform the museum into a place of learning, experimentation, social togetherness and civic development.

A visit to the collection will take visitors on an extraordinary journey through the history of motorcycling, as they are seduced by the charm and rarity of the models on display: over 160 meticulously restored motorcycles, ranging from the G.P., a one-of-a-kind prototype whose construction marked the beginning of Moto Guzzi’s history, through to the current range, including models that have gained mythical status, alongside the racing bikes that have won 14 world titles in the MotoGP World Championship.

The various sections – such as those dedicated to cinema, competitions, travel, the arts, and military and police vehicles – offer a novel museum experience, allowing visitors to explore over a century of evolution in society, habits, technology and design through the history and models of Moto Guzzi. The museum will be a lively, contemporary space, directly connected to Moto Guzzi’s present, enabling visitors to follow the production process of every new motorbike thanks to the opportunity to view the brand-new assembly lines.

The new spaces also include extensive outdoor areas, the restored Wind Tunnel and a magnificent raised terrace looking out over the large central square, which is embellished with a giant mosaic of the Moto Guzzi eagle.

The outdoor areas are pedestrianised and dedicated to guests, spanning approximately 4,200 square metres, with two exclusive squares planted with 35 tall trees, creating a promenade that is already iconic, along with a walkway offering views of the factory in full production.

These spaces, all situated within the factory’s original perimeter, are designed to welcome visitors from all over the world, throughout the year. The new Moto Guzzi premises serve as an ultra-modern hub that also includes the spacious Motoplex Store dedicated to shopping, along with a café, areas for workshops and events, and a new auditorium, covering a total of more than 1,200 square metres.

The new facilities and the new museum in Mandello del Lario do not simply represent the refurbishment of a historic factory – they are a new global benchmark in the world of motorcycle manufacturing and the brand experience; a place of profound emotional and cultural significance, and a unique destination for Moto Guzzi enthusiasts and motorbike fans from all over the world.
