2004 Kawasaki ZRX1200R Review
2004 Kawasaki ZRX1200R
There is nothing standard about this standard.
In the late 1970s and early 1980s, most motorcycle brands built excellent motorcycles that today are often referred to as “standards.” They featured friendly ergonomics and the ability to handle a variety of riding styles. But Kawasaki’s motorcycles of that era were anything but standard – the Good Times brand earned a reputation for building fast bikes that won AMA Superbike Championships in the capable hands of young racers like Eddie Lawson.
Horsepower separates the ZRX1200R from the rest of the pack, thanks to an engine tuned with emphasis on low- and mid-range rpm performance. The ZRX1200R engine features electroplated cylinders, which transfer heat much quicker than steel, allowing tighter tolerances to be utilized to generate more power. Pistons with concave domes are found in the lightweight, all-aluminum cylinder block. This translates to a user-friendly street personality and amazing roll-on performance on the highway.
The Kawasaki ZRX1200 carries on the tradition of the standard’s style and ergonomics, but with modern performance of 21st century Kawasaki engineering.
