– 2000 Kawasaki Vulcan 1500 Classic Fi

The Vulcan 1500 Classic has been one of Kawasaki’s best-selling motorcycles. With the introduction of the 2000 Vulcan 1500 Classic F.I. (fuel injection), the trend is sure to continue. This latest generation of the Vulcan Classic line-up still features the look, feel and sound of a 1950s-era cruiser motorcycle, but adds a high-tech digitally-controlled, fuel injection system and other refinements for improved all-around performance.

The Vulcan 1500 Classic F.I. has a new electronic speedometer that eliminates the wheel-driven mechanism and its speedometer cable for a cleaner look. The new speedometer face features an LED display for the odometer and trip meter as wall as a clock, fuel tank capacity has been increased, and the big 90 cubic-inch V-twin engine in the Classic F.I. combines elements from the original Vulcan 1500 and the latest release in the Vulcan cruiser line-up, the 1500 Drifter. New cam timing and pistons increase power output, new digital fuel injection system automatically and accurately controls the amount of fuel injected into the cylinders, a 16-bit electronic control unit (ECU) is used to read from sensors that monitor engine coolant temperature, intake air temperature, atmospheric pressure, intake air pressure and throttle position to adjust the amount of fuel injected for excellent engine response and power with increased fuel efficiency. The new frame main pipes have increased diameter, a larger diameter steering head with bigger bearings and new gussets offer more rigidity. The steering head is moved forward and fork offset is decreased for improved handling. New floorboard position for a more upright and comfortable riding position, new rear brake pedal and new dual piston caliper, a new wide, five-way adjustable brake and clutch levers for added rider comfort and self-canceling turn signals.
