JORGE MARTÍN FINISHES SECOND, MARCO BEZZECCHI FOURTH. VICTORY FOR APRILIA WITH RAÚL FERNÁNDEZ AND THE TRACKHOUSE MOTOGP TEAM
Jorge Martín claimed second place for Aprilia Racing in the Mugello sprint. Starting from the front row for the first time in 564 days (Malaysia 2024), the Spanish rider began strongly, moving immediately into second place and holding it to the chequered flag.

Marco Bezzecchi delivered a solid sprint. After securing pole position with a new lap record of 1:43.921, he was caught in traffic at the first corner and lost contact with the leading group. The Italian rider then recovered to finish fourth.

The Trackhouse MotoGP Team also had a successful day, with Raúl Fernández taking victory and putting an Aprilia on the top step of the podium. Ai Ogura also had a solid race, finishing eighth and placing a fourth RS-GP inside the top ten.

The excellent qualifying performance deserves special mention: three Aprilias occupied the top three grid positions for the first time in MotoGP World Championship history. Adding to the day’s achievements, Jorge Martín set a new all-time MotoGP top-speed record of 368.6 km/h in FP2, later matched by Marco Bezzecchi in the sprint.

I am pleased with second place – I gave it everything. On tyre choice, I followed Raúl and went with the medium, which proved the right call for me. I will look at his data because I could see he was faster in certain corners, and that is where we can improve. I am gaining confidence and self-belief lap by lap, and today’s race was important because I started to feel the bike’s limit. In the race, I hope to push even harder and be even faster.
At the first braking zone, I misjudged my braking point and lost a few positions, which complicated my sprint. The soft tyre was the right choice, but I was too far back in the opening laps to make the most of it. We have plenty of data to analyse because both Raúl and Jorge were very strong on the mediums. We will study their data and compare it with mine to work out how I can improve ahead of the race.
It was a very positive day, with two historic achievements for us. Jorge set an all-time top speed record of 368.6 km/h, which was then matched by Marco in the sprint, demonstrating the excellent work of the Noale racing department. Added to this is the result in qualifying, where, for the first time in our history, we had three Aprilias in the top three positions. Jorge delivered an excellent performance in the sprint; it was a shame for Marco, who found himself in traffic at the first corner and was unable to make the most of the soft tyre. Overall, we are satisfied. We finished the sprint with three RS-GPs in the top four and four in the top eight.
