Roberts Podiums at Second Round of West Hare Scrambles

Competing at the 2026 Cupid Classic Hare Scrambles, Zane Roberts secured a solid third-place finish in the Pro/AA class. Riding his Factory 480 RR, Roberts admitted to finding the pace of the leaders difficult to match on a course that was significantly slower and tighter than in previous years. He prioritized a smart approach to the race to avoid the mechanical issues that had plagued several riders at the same venue last season, where he personally suffered a failure. Though he acknowledged that the technical, low-speed terrain of the Chaney Ranch canyon was not his strongest suit, he remained focused on a mistake-free performance to salvage valuable points for the championship.

“Round two of the AMA West Hare Scrambles was a pretty gnarly event! The course was extremely tight and technical, with very few spots to open it up and get moving. I got off to a good start but shuffled around a bit in the first few corners and went into the off-road sections in third, with some pretty bad dust initially. I struggled to find a flow for the first hour or so as I had underestimated how tight the track was going to be. Toward the middle of the race, I loosened up and was able to ride better, but was too far down to close the gap to second. Finished out the race in P.3 and will get ready for a long National Hare and Hound next weekend!”
