Roberts Secures Second Place in Dusty Hare & Hound Race

At the 2026 Rabbit Creek 100, Zane Roberts continued his consistent run in the AMA Hare & Hound National Championship by securing his third consecutive runner-up finish of the season. Riders faced a grueling 114-mile course in Southwestern Idaho defined by heavy silt and extreme dust, the latter playing a large role in visibility throughout the race. Despite the challenging conditions, Zane remained near the front, nearly jumping into first on a mid-race mistake by the leader. At one point, Roberts closed the gap significantly, but he ultimately couldn’t find a way to the lead in the nasty dust. He crossed the line in 3:08:44, finishing just over a minute behind the winner but firmly establishing himself as a challenger in the title chase.

“Going into this weekend’s National Hare and Hound, we all knew the start was going to be crucial as the area hasn’t seen any moisture in quite some time, and it was extremely silty. I executed well on my start but got outgunned up the small rise in the start and slotted into second place. That was about the extent of the race as I followed the leaders’ dust pretty much all day from there on out. That’s the way desert racing goes sometimes!”
