In the 2026 AMA National Hare & Hound season opener, Zane Roberts secured a hard-fought second-place finish. Riding for the Liqui Moly Beta factory team, Roberts initially capitalized on a wide, sweeping line at the end of the bomb run to enter the first sand wash in a battle for the lead. While he was eventually overtaken in the dusty conditions, Roberts maintained a strong pace throughout the 90-mile course, ultimately finishing just 59 seconds behind the winner. Despite being unable to repeat his previous year’s victory at this venue, Roberts remained focused, noting that securing second place when a win isn’t possible is vital for his championship chase.

“Decent weekend for the opening round of the National Hare and Hound series. I nailed my start and just managed to squeak out another bomb run holeshot! Sadly, I blew too wide in the first corner and was passed up the inside, that would be about all there was to the race, as the dust was fairly bad, and I struggled to find any pace or flow. It just wasn’t my day, but we held on for a P2 and got valuable points. We’ll get rested up and ready to attack the next one!”
