BOTH FACTORY RIDERS STRAIGHT THROUGH TO Q2: MARCO BEZZECCHI SEVENTH AND JORGE MARTÍN EIGHTH
Aprilia Racing closed out the first day of practice on the Mugello Circuit with positive results. Marco Bezzecchi finished FP1 fourteenth in mixed weather conditions after rain showers a few hours ahead of the session. In the afternoon, with higher temperatures and a dry track, the Italian rider improved his feeling with the RS-GP26, finishing the practice session seventh to go straight through to Q2.

Jorge Martín, on the other hand, took the second-best time in FP1. The Spanish rider then confirmed his competitiveness in the afternoon practice session, finishing eighth, thereby earning a spot for himself directly in Q2 as well.

It was a good Friday and I’m satisfied. The gaps are minimum, so it will be a heated weekend. My sensations were positive already in the morning, and we managed to confirm them in the afternoon as well. Our race pace is good, but we still need to improve a few things, especially in the time attack, which is the area where we’re struggling the most at the moment.
The sensations were good in the morning, whereas in the afternoon everything was a bit more stressful because I lost several opportunities during the various time attacks between red flags and traffic on the track. The goal was to go straight through to Q2, so I’m pleased with the result. On the physical side, I was still in some pain in the morning, whereas in the afternoon, I felt better.
Goal achieved with both riders through to Q2 and with positive feedback in terms of race pace as well. We still need to keep working on a track like this that demands an extremely agile bike which allows high speed on corners. This is a special track for us, since it is our home race, and we really want to do well in front of our fans.
