2026 NATC Rounds 1 & 2 Recap Glen Lyn

The Beta USA trials team delivered a powerhouse performance at the technical Kairos Resort season opener, anchored by a dominant showing from Jay Gregorowicz, who secured two first-place finishes in the Expert Sportsman class and the overall low score each day by mastering the steep West Virginia hills on his new Sincro. Supporting the factory effort, Josh Roper of the TrialStoreUSA.com Beta satellite team spearheaded the Pro class charge with gritty, podium-contending rides to secure 5th and 4th place finishes, while his teammate Alex Niederer rode to 7th & 5th place finishes. Abigail Buzzelli made an impressive debut on the national blue line, securing a P2 finish in Women’s Pro while finding increased confidence and precision alongside her minder. The team’s depth was on full display as Bennett Hubner swept both days in his class, overcoming a cold Sunday start to master the slick creek beds, while Seth Vorseth successfully stepped up to the Expert line with impressive 5th and 6th place finishes. Despite a challenging weekend of “dumb mistakes,” Cullins salvaged crucial championship points with two podiums, while Chris Buzzelli and Tom Trantow both lauded the incredible traction and torque of their new Beta Sincro models to navigate the “wildly steep” terrain and powdery soil of Glen Lyn.

Class: Expert

“Kairos was a pretty rough event for me. It felt like every section all weekend, I would make at least one dumb mistake and cost myself points, and a shot at a better finish. For as bad as it felt like I was riding, I am happy to still come away with two podiums and good championship points. Now I know what I need to work on for New Mexico. Big thanks to the team for all their help and my dad for chasing me around the loop.”

Class: Expert

“The first 2 round of the NATC seasons in West Virginia were very difficult and fun. It was my first full weekend riding the expert line, and I didn’t have any expectations. My goal was to attempt every section and ride for the clean, and I did that. I rode the best I could and had a good time. I surprised myself with a 5th on Saturday and a 6th on Sunday. The bike worked amazingly. The Beta Sincro 300 handled the rocky creeks really well and the big ups, too. Overall, it was a good weekend, I gained a lot of confidence, and found points to work on. Thank you, Beta USA, for giving me this opportunity, and JT Harper for catching my bike all weekend and keeping me hydrated. Big thanks to my mom and Dad for making this all possible.”

Class: Expert Sportsman

“After taking a year off from nationals, I was excited to come back and see what the new Sincro could do. The hills and creeks of WV were a familiar terrain for me, and it didn’t take long to get back into competition mode. The new bike didn’t disappoint as it easily made light work of what were some of the most technically difficult sections I’ve ridden in a while. As a result, it was great to take two First Place finishes and the overall low score both days.  Huge thank you to BetaUSA and Ray Peters for their continued support. Looking forward to the next rounds coming up in New Mexico.”

Class: Senior Expert Sportsman

“It was great to get between the tape for the first event of the year in a beautiful location on the new Beta Sincro 300. The new bike finds traction, and even with the mistakes I made, it got me up wildly steep hills, awkward rocks, and it dug through the powdery soil. I put in extra work in the off-season so that I could ride safely without a minder. However, the risk in some sections was too high to attempt without one, so I punched 2-3 sections per day, and those punched sections were the deciding factor, relegating me to 3rd each day, which puts me in a tough position for the championships. Despite a massive crash over the bars on Sunday, I was happy to get out healthy and to see all my teammates and fellow Beta riders do so well. Big shoutout to Beta USA for the support! Motivated and undeterred, I will keep pushing forward. “

Class: Women Pro

“I kicked off the 2026 NATC National Trials Championship season at Kairos Resort with a P2 finish in Women’s Pro and a big focus on learning the national blue line. The sections were long and demanding, and the time within the sections was very tight, especially on Saturday, and it took me some time to adjust to the scale and level of commitment required. Sunday started off a bit rough, but I continued to improve throughout the day and finished on my best loop of the weekend. It was also my first time ever riding a national with a minder, and having Eric Olmstead there made a huge difference in helping me focus on learning and progressing in the sections. My 2026 Beta 250 Sincro was incredible all weekend and gives me the confidence to keep building in the class as the season continues.”

Class: Junior Expert Sportsman

“The first round of nationals at Kairos in West Virginia went very well for me.  I had a lot of fun riding the sections, especially after the first lap, when they got ridden in.   There were a lot of hills and creeks.  On Saturday, it was hot and humid.  I had some dumb points and some good rides as well. On Sunday, it started out pretty cold.  On my first lap, I had 4 fives in a row on the first four sections. Then later on in the loop, I was able to put some better rides together.  I was very happy to make it through section 8, which had a steep hill climb followed by a sharp turn at the top. Overall, my bike ran great, and I had a lot of fun riding the sections.  I was very happy to finish the weekend with two first places. “

Class: Sportsman

“Kairos proved to be a demanding event, requiring a high level of precision and commitment throughout the weekend. I was very pleased with the transition from the Beta 200 two-stroke to the 300 four-stroke—the added torque and power were a great advantage on the steep West Virginia hill climbs. The sections were some of the most challenging I’ve faced, and while I rode well in parts, a few costly mistakes led to several fives, resulting in 14th and 12th-place finishes. Even so, I couldn’t have asked for a better setup. The bike performed exceptionally, and I’m grateful for the support of my teammates and riding group throughout the event. I’m looking forward to New Mexico and continuing to build momentum.”
