VHR VRT Yamaha Official EMX250 team’s Janis Reisulis has finished as runner-up at the final round of the 2025 EMX250 Championship in Turkiye. The newly crowned champion lined up for the last race of the year focused on winning, but was narrowly denied what would have been his sixth overall victory this season.
At the start of Race Two, Reisulis charged to the holeshot aboard his GYTR-kitted Yamaha YZ250F and led the way for 10 laps. Entering the closing stages of the race, he suffered from arm pump, which allowed Francisco Garcia to take over at the front. By this time, the leading duo had opened up a sizable margin over the rest of the field, and Reisulis crossed the finish line just over two seconds adrift of victory, securing second overall. The result marked his eighth visit to the podium this season.
Reisulis’ teammate, Ivano van Erp, finished 14th in the championship after missing several rounds due to injury, while Wozniak MX Yamaha Racing Team’s Nicolai Skovberg ended the year in seventh.
De Baets Yamaha Supported MX Team’s Lotte van Drunen was also racing in Turkiye for the fifth and penultimate round of the 2025 FIM Women’s Motocross World Championship. The defending WMX World Champion, who has led the series since the opening round in Sardinia, placed fourth overall.
In the opening race, van Drunen made a strong start and quickly moved from fifth to third by the end of lap one. The talented Dutch racer then kept the leaders in sight for the duration of the race but couldn’t make another pass and settled for third.
As the gate dropped for Race Two, the series leader didn’t get the best of starts, and she emerged from the first turn well outside the top 10. A hard charge through the field then followed, with van Drunen reaching fourth with a few laps remaining.
As the race ended, the 18-year-old crossed the line just a fraction of a second behind Martine Hughes in third. Her fourth-place finish in the race secured fourth overall on the day, and with one round remaining, van Drunen holds a 12-point lead at the top of the championship standings.
The sixth and decisive final round of the 2025 FIM Women’s Motocross World Championship takes place at the MXGP of Australia on September 20-21.
