Stefano Manzi (Yamaha) takes home the WorldSSP World Championship title by winning today’s Race2. In WorldSBK, victories go to Razgatlioğlu and Bulega, on Pirelli E0672 front and E0126 development rear tyres | ||
· With his win in Race2, Stefano Manzi (Yamaha) has been mathematically crowned FIM WorldSSP World Champion with still one round to go, thanks to an 82-point lead over Can Oncu (Yamaha) and only 50 points left in play. This marks Manzi’s first in-class world title, after finishing second both in 2023 and 2024. He was joined on todays’ podium by Philipp Oettl (Ducati), second, and Jeremy Alcoba (Kawasaki), third. All riders used standard SC1 front and SCX rear tyres. · A win and a second place each in WorldSBK went to Toprak Razgatlioğlu (BMW) and Nicolò Bulega (Ducati). The Turkish rider won the Superpole Race ahead of the Ducati rider, then they switched positions in Race2. Álvaro Bautista took third place in both races on the second official Ducati. All three riders on the podium raced with the E0672 front and E0126 rear developments, with the only exception being Bulega in the shorter race, who opted for the standard SC1 front tyre. · Nicolò Bulega set a new fastest race lap record during the Superpole Race, stopping the clock at 1’34.973 on lap five, over seven tenths faster than Razgatlioğlu’s previous benchmark in Race1. Both today’s races were significantly faster than their 2024 counterparts, with the Superpole Race over 13 seconds quicker in total, averaging about 1.3 seconds per lap, and Race2 nearly 30 seconds faster, with an average lap gain of 1.4 seconds. · In the Superpole Race, five riders used the E0479 development SCQ rear tyres, while the rest went for the E0126 development of the SCX, which then became the unanimous choice in Race2. All three front options were used across both races, with a fairly even split between the two medium standard SC1 and E0672 development tyres. Garrett Gerloff (Kawasaki) and Michael van der Mark (BMW) were the only two to use the hard SC2 front option at least once. · The Estoril Round also hosted the final race of the FIM Yamaha R3 bLU cRU World Cup, where all riders compete on Pirelli SC1 front and rear tyres. The 2025 champion is Alessandro Di Persio, who won the series with 114 points over Arai Agaska and 117 over Mario Salles. Congratulations to Manzi and the Ten Kate Racing Team. Development solutions deliver in WorldSBK “First of all, I would like to congratulate Stefano Manzi for securing the WorldSSP world title, and the Ten Kate Racing Team for their thirteenth title. The strong improvement in race times in the WorldSSP class also highlights the effectiveness of the supersoft SCX tyre, now a well-established and appreciated solution in the category. As for WorldSBK, the fight for the title is postponed to next week’s race in Jerez, and from our perspective it will be interesting to observe how the performances will evolve alongside our developments. Here at Estoril, we once again confirmed the versatility and high performance of the supersoft E0126 development, which proved effective in both long and short races, with significant improvements in race pace across all three weekend competitions. We were also very positively impressed by the new medium E0672 front development. On its debut, it received widespread approval and encouraging feedback from the riders. Even though Estoril isn’t a particularly demanding track on front tyres, the qualities of this new development are starting to emerge, and this is a very promising sign. We’re looking forward to seeing it perform on a track that places the front under more stress, such as Jerez, where we’ll be next week for the season finale.” |
