2011 Husqvarna WRE125 Review

The WRE 125 that has always been a key contender in the trail world, and recognised by the press as the perfect machine on which to begin off-roading.

This year it has undergone a facelift and its graphic design now reflects the racing-based models with a new red and white colour scheme. The white chassis and anodised black hubs give the bike a look that is even tougher than before.

The multi prize-winning 125cc engine has been refined and brought up to date, with improvements especially in terms of pick-up and power at low to medium revs. The WRE 125 comes with the ECS electronic carburetion system, an integrated system for electronic control of the fuel mix (both air/petrol and petrol/oil), developed in collaboration with Dell’Orto. The control unit also manages the ignition system. This enables the 2-stroke WRE125 to meet Euro 3 requirements, contains costs, boosts commercial competitiveness and maintains all the advantages typical of 2-stroke engines: lightness, performance and low running costs. The new exhaust system and muffler are the fruit of experience gained in the world of racing bikes.

The suspension now features new Marzocchi front forks, specially developed for this model, further enhanced by the Sachs shock absorber with new calibration for the damping allowing greater flexibility and support. The rear braking system has a master cylinder with integrated oil reservoir. As with all Husqvarna Enduro and Dual Purpose models, the WRE125 comes supplied with handlebar guards as an accessory.

Again for rally or road use, the headlight housing has been redesigned and the headlight beam is more powerful. The front cowling is completely new. The registration plate holder has been redesigned and the rear light is now LED.

 

The 2011 WRE125 gains new Marzocchi forks, Sachs rear shock, revised exhaust system for improved low and mid range performance, new panels with in mould graphics and a new rear light. All these combine to make the WRE125 an even better trail bike for the learner or novice off roader.
