• Two Desmo250 MX on the podium of the Italian Pro Prestige MX2 Championship
The second round of the Italian Pro Prestige Motocross Championship took place this weekend at the iconic Maggiora track, in spring-like temperatures. The Beddini Racing Ducati Factory MX2 Team was busy in both classes, with Ferruccio Zanchi and Simone Mancini competing in MX2 and Alessandro Lupino riding the #77 Desmo450 MX in MX1.
At the start of the day, Zanchi took pole position in MX2 and lined up first at the starting gate for race one. The Italian rider struggled at the start and was outside the top 10, but with excellent progression, he managed to climb back up to third place; a mistake late in the heat deprived him of second place. Zanchi got off to a better start in race two, finishing second at the first corner and taking the lead after a lap, keeping it until the finish line, taking second place on the podium of the day. Simone Mancini also had a positive race, posting the third-fastest time in his group in timed practice. Simone got off to a good start in the first heat and finished third on the opening lap, before moving up a position to finish second, ahead of his teammate; in race two, he finished fifth, taking third place on the podium.
After posting the third-fastest time in timed practice, Alessandro Lupino lined up for the first heat aboard his Desmo450 MX, sporting the red plate of the championship leader. After taking third place in the first heat, the Fiamme Oro rider suffered a nasty crash on the third lap of the second heat, forcing him to retire.
Ferruccio Zanchi: “Here at Maggiora, we had a good race, finding a good feeling with the track and gathering important information. I was fast right away, taking pole position, then I made a mistake at the start in race one but recovered well. The second start went better; I took the lead quickly and controlled the race, riding a good race with good intensity, which is very interesting for the resumption of the championship.”
Simone Mancini: “It was a good weekend. We had two solid heats, and I’m especially satisfied with the first. I’m not 100% physically yet, and I can improve on the track, too, but I’m recovering.”
