Scott Parker Named Grand Marshal for 100th Springfield Mile on September 2

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (August 24, 2018) – Nine-time AMA Grand National Champion Scott Parker, who notched an amazing 94 wins in his stellar career, has been named Grand Marshal of the 100th running of the Harley-Davidson Springfield Mile on September 2.

“It’s always cool to be Grand Marshal,” said Parker, who won an amazing 14 AMA Nationals at Springfield, “and it will be especially great at the 100th Springfield Mile, where I’ve had a lot of really good days. It’s always fun seeing the flat track community when I attend a race, people and friends I haven’t seen in years from all over the country. Being the Grand Marshal at a race like this is like a big splash of gravy on top of a great dinner!

Parker will sign autographs during the Open Paddock/Autograph Session on Sunday at 12:00 pm CT (1:00 pm ET). He’ll also be out and about during the morning and afternoon, talking with crews and riders in the paddock, and also mingling with fans and friends.

“We are extremely proud to have Scotty Parker as our Grand Marshal,” said Springfield Mile II promoters Dave and Tommra Kiesow. “He has always been a fan favorite, not only because he won the Springfield Mile 14 times but because his victories here were some of the most exciting races in the history of flat track racing. In 2000 he honored us by coming out of retirement and winning here, and now he honors us by being our Grand Marshal at the significant 100th running of the Springfield Mile.”

Gates open at 9:00 am CT, with practice and qualifying starting at 10:00 am CT. An autograph signing/open-paddock fan walk is scheduled for 12:00 pm CT, with racing beginning at 1:30 pm CT. Main Events are scheduled for 3:00 pm CT (AFT Production Twins) and 3:30 pm CT (AFT Twins).
