Even more, this bike astonishes with its aptitude for mid-range touring with truly amazing comfort for rider and passenger.

Unmistakable line
The Diavel V4 communicates an important presence from the very first glance. Muscular, gritty, with broad “shoulders” and proudly visible four-exits exhaust that immediately declares the sophisticated engine architecture.

The Diavel V4 draws inspiration from muscle cars, from the aesthetics of superheroes and reproduces the image of an athlete ready to sprint to the starting blocks, with all the masses concentrated on the front and an agile, streamlined tail.

The signature front and rear light clusters and turn signals, obviously full-LED, also contribute to Diavel V4’s unmistakable appearance. The front DRL* changes shape, with a double-C profile that evolves from the previous stylistic feature. The rear light cluster consists of a matrix of punctiform LEDs positioned under the tail, also with an unmistakably Ducati optical signature: a unique and spectacular solution that makes the bike instantly
recognizable. Dynamic turn signals* are integrated into the handlebars, in front of the brake and the clutch control reservoirs.

Another distinctive element of the Diavel V4 is the massive 240/45 rear tire. The wheels are a five-spoke alloy with a profile embellished with machined surfaces and are one of the most refined elements of the Diavel V4’s aesthetics.

V4 Granturismo: the undisputed protagonist
In the Diavel philosophy, the engine is the fulcrum around which everything revolves: performance, character and style. That’s why Ducati designers started with the V4 Granturismo, making it the star of all design elements, with the mechanics prominently displayed as a distinctive feature.

Muscle-cruiser with supersport personality
With a steel fuel tank with an animated, sculptural shape reminiscent of Ducati supersport bikes, the tail is light, slender and sharp. The air intakes are a breaking element in the side view, communicating all the muscular power.

Character and uniqueness are found in the details
The LED daytime running light at the front has a double-C shape. The rear light cluster consists of an array of point LEDs under the tail, with a highly original design that repeats the double C of the DRL and can not leave indifferent.

Surprisingly light
The Diavel V4 features a chassis with a monocoque frame and single-sided swingarm, both made of aluminum, which combined with the lightness of the V4 Granturismo results in a Curb weight without fuel of 491 lbs, for a saving of more than 28.6 lbs compared to the Diavel 1260 S.

The Diavel adopts the 1,158 cc V4 Granturismo engine, a central element of the bike’s design and at the same time a technical choice that improves performance, dynamics and riding pleasure thanks also to the sophisticated choice of a counter-rotating crankshaft, which reduces the gyroscopic effect while increasing the bike’s agility.

Powerful (168 hp), rich in torque at every rpm (with a peak value of 12.8 kgm at 7,500 rpm, 0.5 more than the Multistrada V4) but also extremely light and compact, the V4 Granturismo (which derives from the Desmosedici Stradale of Panigale V4 and Streetfighter V4) is at the same time smooth, regular and enjoyable from the lowest revs. It is also characterized by low running costs, with major maintenance at 60,000 km intervals (a record value on the world scene) and efficient in fuel consumption and emissions thanks to the extended deactivation system. This feature shuts off the rear bank not only when the vehicle is stationary, but also while riding at low engine speeds under reduced engine load.

The Twin Pulse firing order, together with the dedicated exhaust system developed with great attention to “sound quality”, unmistakably characterizes the stamp of the V4 Granturismo. The extended deactivation system for the rear cylinders, which allows the engine to operate as a twin-cylinder or as a four-cylinder with an imperceptible transition due to its gradualness, generates a change in the tone of the exhaust noise as it switches from one mode to the other. A deeper sound, with lower frequencies, characterizes the V4 Granturismo when only the two front cylinders are active. The frequencies, on the other hand, become higher when all four cylinders are operating.

Chassis and ergonomics
The exhilarating performances of the V4 Granturismo engine are combined with surprising agility and dynamics for such a motorcycle. The Diavel V4 has a kerb weight without fuel of 223 kg, for a saving of more than 13 kg (-5 on the engine, -8 on the vehicle) compared to the Diavel 1260 S, thanks to the lightness of the V4 Granturismo and specific actions to many of its components.

All this with component refinement and effectiveness, with an inverted 50-mm fork and a cantilever-pattern shock absorber, both fully adjustable. The braking system relies on Brembo Stylema® calipers and dual 330 mm front discs.

The result is a motorcycle capable of breathtaking acceleration and deceleration. In fact, the performance of the 168 hp V4 Granturismo, combined with the 240/45 rear tire and a dedicated gearing, allows it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 3”, with a truly impressive thrust.

The braking system, supersport-like, with 330 mm discs and Brembo Stylema® calipers, on the other hand, ensures record-breaking performance, with peak deceleration values of as much as 11.5 m/s2: a value that generally characterizes racing motorcycles, obtainable only thanks to a very refined calibration of the ABS system.

The rider – who can enjoy a low seat (at 790 mm from the ground), central footpegs and high handlebars set 20 mm closer than on the Diavel 1260, which make it easier to use, especially when maneuvering – is in the center of the bike, with a riding position that also visually conveys a feeling of control and self-confidence.

Comfort also improves substantially on long rides thanks to the rear suspension, which increases in travel by 15 mm, and especially to the wide, well-profiled seat, designed to offer maximum freedom of movement in every direction, thus also offering benefits in terms of efficiency in sportier riding.
The passenger can count on a spacious and comfortable seat, footrests that retract under the tail and a telescopic rear grab bar. Footpegs and grab bar are effectively invisible in the closed position, and together with the passenger seat cover, supplied as standard and easily installed, allow the Diavel V4 to be transformed from a two-seater to a single-seater with just a few gestures.

Electronics
The rider can fully and safely exploit the performance of the Diavel V4, thanks to a comprehensive electronic package that enhances the sport naked soul of this bike. The Diavel V4 offers three Power Modes and four Riding Modes: Sport, Touring, Urban and the new Wet, designed for low-grip surfaces. The Riding Modes allow the rider to adapt the engine delivery and the intervention of the riding aid systems (Ducati Traction Control in Cornering version, ABS Cornering and Ducati Wheelie Control) to the rider’s situation and preferences.

Cruise Control makes highway transfers more relaxed, while Launch Control provides scorching starts and Ducati Quick Shift up/down makes shifting in general less fatiguing and more effective in sport riding.

The rider can manage all the electronic systems through backlit controls on the handlebars and the new 5-inch color TFT dashboard, which also offers Bluetooth connectivity to pair the smartphone and use it for calls, text messages and music, or use the Turn-by-turn navigation system (available as an accessory) via the Ducati Link App.

Accessories
Enthusiasts who wish to enhance the touring capabilities of their Diavel V4 will find many options in the Ducati Performance catalogue, starting from the semi-rigid cases with a total capacity of 48 liters for which Diavel V4 is ready (no frames needed) which along with the passenger backrest and the touring plexi allow comfortable trips even with a passenger. The sportier side of the Diavel V4, on the other hand, is amplified by the street-legal exhaust silencer with a cover and four titanium end caps. Billet parts, carbon parts, forged wheels and brake calipers in red or black color further expand the possibility of customizing the new Diavel V4.

2024 Ducati Diavel V4 Totalmotorcycle.com Features and Benefits

Protagonist in every situation
Muscular but elegant lines, refined style and an assertive and unmistakable presence have always made the Diavel the bike for those who do not want to go unnoticed. With the arrival of the V4 Granturismo, the Ducati naked cruiser goes even further: the engine has always been at the heart of the Diavel concept, and in this third generation it is confirmed as a distinctive element both for style and for character and performance.

Never, before the introduction of Ducati Diavel, had a motorcycle been as rewarding in its ride as in its image: with this bike the Borgo Panigale manufacturer has in fact created a segment all of its own by combining stylistic concepts and technical elements typical of naked, cruiser and sports bikes: loaded masses on the front of the bike, light and elusive tail, visible mechanical components. A model with surprising dynamics that has been able to win the hearts of Ducatisti, but at the same time attract enthusiasts from those three worlds.

The Ducati designers therefore started with the V4 Granturismo, enhancing it and making it the protagonist, developing all the other elements that contribute to the design of the bike with the aim of keeping its uniqueness and recognizability intact and once again amaze audiences around the world. Capturing attention from very first impact and guiding the eye over every component, every finish, every single detail.

The Diavel conveys a sense of determination, with loaded masses on the front and a light, slender and sharp tail as if replicating the image of an athlete poised on the starting blocks. The front view also replicates the proportions of a lean and athletic physique, with broad shoulders giving way to a slim and tapered waistline with the classic sporty V-shaped tip.

The steel tank has an even more dynamic and sculptural development, closer to that of the Ducati super sports bikes, while the air intakes, an element of rupture in side view, communicate the power of the V4 Granturismo, amplifying the scenic effect of its presence in front view. And the exhaust, which returns fully visible in the side view, ends with a silencer with four outlets that immediately proclaims the architecture of the engine.

Another characterizing element of the Diavel has always been its optical signature. At the front, the LED daytime running light is shaped like a double C, while the dynamic direction indicators are integrated into the handlebar, in front of the brake and clutch controls, making the front view cleaner. At the rear there is instead a matrix of LEDs under the tail with a design that incorporates the double C design of the headlight assembly at the front.

The five-spoke wheels with exposed machined profile are also an essential stylistic element of the Diavel V4, as is the 240-section rear tyre that communicates the strength of the Ducati sports cruiser without any doubt. In the same way, to maintain maximum cleanliness in the single-seater configuration but at the same time offer the possibility of accommodating a passenger, the folding footpegs return and the retractable rear handle remains, two solutions capable of perfectly synthesizing style and practicality.

V4 Granturismo engine
The Diavel V4 is the first model after the Multistrada V4 to adopt the 1,158 cc V4 Granturismo engine (bore and stroke measure 83 x 53.5 mm respectively), which in the configuration used here delivers 168 hp (123.6 kW) at 10,750 rpm and 126 Nm (12.8 kgm) at 7,500 rpm, with a particularly linear torque curve to ensure a smooth and progressive response at all revs. The performance of this engine, combined with its total weight of only 66.7 kg, allows the V4 Granturismo to continue to be the benchmark in the category for power and lightness.

These numbers are combined with refined technical solutions, such as a counter-rotating crankshaft, derived from the experience gained by Ducati Corse in MotoGP, which works “against” the gyroscopic inertia of the wheels, but also torque curves dedicated to each single gear ratio to combine smooth delivery at low revs, robustness of torque in the mids and power at highs.

The Twin Pulse firing order, determined by the crankshaft with 70° staggered pins and also developed in racing competition, produces a full-bodied delivery at all revs but also a gratifying and unmistakable sound, thanks to an in-depth study on “sound quality” that led the V4 Granturismo to have a refined sound but at the same time characterized by the classic engaging tone of the V4s from the Borgo Panigale manufacturer. The fuel feed is
entrusted to four throttle bodies with a single elliptical section injector, with a corresponding section of 46 mm.

The development of the V4 Granturismo also took into consideration fuel consumption and comfort: the extended deactivation system of the rear bank acts both during stops with the engine running, for example at the traffic lights, and when riding at low revs in certain conditions, in order to reduce consumption and improve the thermal comfort of the rider and passenger. As speed increases or above a certain torque demand from the throttle grip, the rear cylinders are reactivated, ensuring the character and performance of the V4 Granturismo. The system is active in all Riding Modes.

The adoption of the V4 Granturismo also has positive effects on maintenance costs, which are reduced thanks to extremely long intervals: an oil change is required every 15,000 kilometres while valve adjustment is at 60,000 kilometres. A record value, even considering the performance this bike is capable of.

Chassis
The V4 Granturismo engine is also an integral part of the chassis, being used as a stressed member that contributes significantly to a weight that, in running order without fuel, drops to 223 kg, with a saving of 13 kg (-5 kg in the engine, -8 kg in the vehicle) compared to the previous Diavel 1260.
The chassis, technically very refined, focuses on a very light aluminium monocoque frame fixed to the heads, a single-sided swingarm cast in the same material and a steel trellis rear subframe.

The wheelbase stands at 1,593 mm, 4 less than the Diavel 1260, with a 26° inclination of the steering head and a resulting trail of 112 mm. The tank is made of steel and has a capacity of 20 litres.

Suspension
The fully adjustable Diavel V4 suspension consists of 50 mm diameter upside-down forks (with compression and preload adjustment on the left tube, and rebound on the right tube) and a single shock absorber with a separate piggyback reservoir. The wheel travel is 120 mm at the front and 145 at the rear, 15 more than Diavel 1260, with positive effects on the comfort of both the rider and the passenger.

Brakes
At the front, the braking performance of the Diavel V4 is guaranteed by Brembo brakes with Stylema® radial monobloc calipers operated by a PR16/19 radial brake master cylinder with integrated aluminium reservoir acting on two 330 mm diameter floating discs. At the rear, on the other hand, the 265 mm diameter disc is braked by a twopiston caliper, also produced by Brembo.

Tyres and rims
The Diavel V4 is fitted with five-spoke wheels featuring an exclusive design with machined surfaces. At the front, the wheel rim is 3.5” x 17”, while at the rear there is an 8.0” x 17” rim. A 120/70 ZR17 tyre is mounted on the front rim, while the rear tyre is 240/45 ZR17. The tyres are Pirelli Diablo Rosso III.

Ergonomics
The riding position of the Diavel V4 continues to be sporty but comfortable and accessible, with a saddle positioned at 790 mm from the ground and completely redesigned to offer greater longitudinal space, support in strong acceleration and ample freedom of lateral movement of the body when leaning, thanks also to the excellent connection with the tank and to the footpegs located in a central position.

On the Diavel V4 the wide and raised handlebars have been brought 20 mm closer to the rider’s body to improve comfort and control in all situations.
The wide and well-padded passenger seat follows that of previous generations. The Diavel V4 also offers a standard seat cover to transform the look into a single-seater. The passenger footpegs are foldable to “disappear” under the tail; the retractable rear handle uses a telescopic mechanism.

Electronic equipment
The latest generation electronic package of the Diavel V4 is based on the use of a 6-axis inertial platform (6D IMU – Inertial Measurement Unit) capable of instantly detecting the roll, yaw and pitch angle of the motorcycle.

The electronic package includes controls that manage all the riding phases: some are responsible for starting, accelerating and braking, others supervise traction, others relate to the cornering and corner exit phases.

› ABS Cornering EVO
› Ducati Traction Control (DTC) EVO 2
› Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC) EVO
› Ducati Power Launch (DPL)
› Ducati Quick Shift up / down (DQS) EVO 2
› Cruise control

The operating parameters of each control are associated by default with the four Riding Modes the Diavel V4 is equipped with. Riders are given the opportunity to customize their riding styles and to restore the parameters set by Ducati.

Power Modes & Riding Modes
Furthermore, each Riding Mode is associated with one of the three Power Modes: High, Medium, Low. The High and Medium Power Modes both allow the V4 Granturismo engine to deliver full power, i.e. 168 hp at 10,750 rpm, with a maximum torque value of 125.7 Nm at 7,500 rpm, but with different Ride by Wire map settings. The High Power Mode, associated by default with the Sport Riding Mode, is designed for sporty riding and offers a direct and gutsy response to the throttle controls. The Medium Power Mode, instead assigned in the default value to the Touring Riding Mode, is characterized by a more progressive and gentle response of the engine to the rider’s requests.

The Low Power Mode, associated by default with the Urban and Wet Riding Modes, was instead designed for use on low-grip surfaces, limiting the maximum power of the bike to 115 hp at 8,750 rpm and the maximum torque to 114.4 Nm at 5,750 rpm, and offering a particularly manageable throttle response.

Sport Riding Mode
The Sport Riding Mode is the best performing one. The Diavel V4, with this Riding Mode, delivers its 168 hp with a direct and gutsy response. The intervention of Ducati Traction Control and Ducati Wheelie Control is reduced to a minimum and the ABS is set to level 2 which allows controlled lifting of the rear wheel in order to maximize braking performance, while maintaining Cornering functionality. It is the ideal choice for experienced riders who want to enjoy the maximum performance of the Diavel V4.

Touring Riding Mode
In Touring Riding Mode, the maximum power of the Diavel V4 remains 168 hp, but the delivery is softer and more progressive and the level of intervention of DTC and DWC is raised for greater vehicle controllability. The ABS is set to level 3, the safest and most prudent one thanks to the limitation of rear wheel lift, the optimization of combined braking and the active Cornering function.

Urban Riding Mode
The power delivery of the Urban Riding Mode is reduced to 115 hp (Low Power Mode) with a particularly softened and progressive response to better manage the continuous changes of surface. DTC and DWC move to a very high level of intervention. The ABS is set to level 3.

Wet Riding Mode
The Wet Riding Mode is designed for riding on low-grip surfaces, or more precisely in wet conditions. The RM limits maximum power to 115 hp with a particularly gentle throttle response (Low Power Mode) and the default level of electronic controls is set to offer maximum stability ensuring better grip and steadiness.

ABS Cornering EVO
The ABS system of the Diavel V4 includes the “cornering” function, which extends the ABS intervention even when the bike is leaning. The ABS Cornering appropriately uses the signals of the Bosch IMU inertial platform to optimally dose the braking power of the front and rear wheels even in critical situations and with the bike at an angle.

By interacting with the Riding Modes, the system is able to offer solutions suitable for every situation and riding condition as well as rider preference. The system acts with three different levels of intervention. Level 1 offers maximum performance for sporty riding, does not have the Cornering function, the rear lift detection (lift-up) activated and allows the rear to yaw when braking with ABS applied to the front only.

Level 2 ensures a balance between front and rear without rear wheel lift detection but with Cornering functionality active and calibrated for sporty riding. Level 3 allows the optimization of the braking action with detection of rear wheel lift and the Cornering function activated and calibrated for maximum safety (safe & stable configuration).

Ducati Traction Control (DTC) EVO 2
The new Ducati Traction Control (DTC) EVO 2 strategy derives from the Ducati Desmosedici GP18 and is already used on the Panigale V4 and Streetfighter V4 families. In addition to interfacing with the 6-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) and adapting the intervention and slide to the lean angle of the bike, the software significantly improves power management out of corners thanks to the new “predictive” control strategy. Acting not only on the instantaneous value of the rear spin, but also on its variation, it intercepts the loss of grip more quickly and reduces slippage peaks, thus ensuring a quicker and more regular intervention. All this translates into greater vehicle stability when exiting corners, even in less-than-optimal grip conditions, greater acceleration and improved performance.

Furthermore, the DTC EVO 2, in addition to management of the ignition and injection advance, provides for the intervention of the valves of the throttle bodies when a rapid intervention of the control is not necessary, allowing to maintain optimal combustion parameters and obtain smoother engine response and intervention.

The DTC EVO 2 can be set on 4 different levels (3 in dry conditions and 1 in wet conditions), allowing the rider to adapt the control strategy to his or her riding style and grip conditions, obtaining maximum performance.

Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC) EVO
The Diavel V4 is also equipped with the latest version of Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC) EVO, adjustable on 4 levels. This system, using information from the Bosch 6D IMU, controls wheelie and allows for maximum acceleration performance with ease and safety. The DWC EVO more accurately detects the presence and extent of wheelies and intervenes to control them with a greater level of precision, so as to satisfy the rider’s requests even more accurately.

Ducati Power Launch (DPL) EVO
This system, adjustable on three levels, is able to guarantee lightning-fast starts, allowing the rider to concentrate only on the management of the clutch release, allowing the “Dragster” soul of the Diavel V4 to express itself fully.

Once set, it will be sufficient to engage first gear and open the throttle: the DPL during the first phase of the start, while the driver modulates the clutch release, will keep the V4 Granturismo stable around an optimal speed according to the selected DPL level; in the second phase, when the clutch is fully released, the DPL will control the torque delivered to ensure the maximum possible acceleration based on the predefined level.

For its operation, the DPL exploits the functions of the DWC and always keeps the DTC active, to guarantee the highest level of safety in every situation. The system is automatically disengaged above the speed at the end of the manoeuvre, or once the third gear is engaged. To preserve the clutch, the system uses an algorithm that allows only a limited number of consecutive starts. The number of starts available is restored when the rider uses the bike normally. The DPL is adjustable on 3 levels. Level 1 is the one that privileges starting performance, level 3 is the most “safe and stable”.

Ducati Quick Shift up / down (DQS) EVO 2
The DQS EVO 2 with up / down function, developed for the Panigale V4, makes use of the information on the lean angle to maximize the stability of the bike during the shifting phase when cornering.

The DQS EVO 2, in addition to minimizing shift times, allows you to downshift without using the clutch, ensuring even more effective braking. The system includes a bi-directional microswitch integrated in the kinematics of the lever which, at each gearshift operation, sends a signal to the control unit of the V4 Granturismo. The system acts separately for shifting and downshifting, integrating the action on ignition advance and injection, already present on the up-shift system, with the controlled opening of the throttle valve for down-shift operation thanks to the full Ride by Wire system management.

Hands-Free ignition
The Diavel is equipped with a Hands-Free system that allows ignition without a mechanical key. Just have the electronic key in your pocket and approach the bike. When you are about 1.5 m away, the motorcycle recognizes the key code to allow it to be turned on. At this point, simply press the key-on button to turn on the ignition, and then start the engine. The system also includes an electric actuator for the steering lock.

Dashboard
The Diavel V4 uses the same advanced full-TFT 5″ colour high-resolution instrument (186.59 PPI – 800xRGBx480) as the Panigale V4, with a large circular rev counter on the right side showing the gear engaged and the Riding Mode selected. .

On the left side are the fuel level indications, selection menu, instantaneous speed, cruise control setting and trip odometer indications. On the upper and lower areas the instrument also shows the clock, atmospheric and coolant temperature as well as the warning lights for heated grips, daylight and connection with the Ducati Link App and the Bluetooth multimedia system.

If the accessory Turn-by-turn navigation system is installed, the display provides a dedicated display, in which half is devoted to standard information (speed, engaged gear, tachometer, etc.) and the other half is reserved for Turnby-turn navigator instructions, implemented through the Ducati Link App installed on the smartphone. The destination is set on the latter; by activating the start of navigation, the instructions will then be displayed on the dashboard.
