Strang Finds the GNCC Podium Again with Third Place Finish

The Liqui Moly Beta Race Team had a dramatic day at the John Penton GNCC in Ohio, with strong early speed and late-race determination from both Josh Strang and Jhak Walker. Jhak Walker was running exceptionally well, holding a solid third place for most of the race before suffering a freak problem on the final lap, which cost him significant time in the notoriously rugged Penton section. Meanwhile, Josh Strang, who was physically running fifth on the third lap, found his rhythm and showcased late-race determination to close the gap to the top three. His experience proved crucial on the final lap, where he executed a clever pass in that same Penton section, a decision that propelled him into podium position. Ultimately, Strang secured third place in the competitive XC1 Open Pro class.

“I pushed it a little hard today, but I felt good. I felt comfortable for the most part, and there was a gap there with, like, two laps to go, and I was able to catch up to the top three. And on the last lap in the Penton section, there was a big log that we were going over on the first few laps, and the last two laps, I saw the boys were going high and right, and I just went over the main line again and made a pass to get up into third and catch up with the leaders. Overall, I’m happy with my race.”

“Another race down, Penton was going very well for me. I was running in third just about all day, but then on the last lap, I lost it in the Penton section. I had a freak problem that cost me a bunch of time. I’m fired up for Ironman!”
