WEEKEND MOTORCYCLE RACING ACTION – July 20-21st

BSB-5-Luke Stapleford-2

Team Suzuki Press Office – July 19.

The third weekend of July sees British Superbike and National Superstock 1000 action back on track for round 6 of the Championships at the Snetterton 300 circuit in Norfolk, UK.

Buildbase Suzuki BSB Superbike riders Bradley Ray and Luke Stapleford, along with Superstock 1000 rider Richard Cooper, come to the event aboard their GSX-R1000 machinery, fresh from some positive results at the previous Knockhill round and following further testing; Stapleford is currently 15th and Ray 17th in the standings after some issues at previous races, which are now ironed-out. Cooper continues to lead the Superstock class on his production-based GSX-R1000 and has increased his series lead to 33.5-points after Knockhill.

Privateer team, OMG Racing Suzuki’s Luke Mossey and Josh Elliot continue to impress in the Superbike class and are currently placed 11th and 12th respectively at this halfway point in the highly-competitive 12-round Bennetts British Superbike series and aiming to take another strong points haul this weekend after Elliott took the series lead at the opening race at Silverstone in April with a spectacular 1-2 finish. .

In America, the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship returns to the track – after a weekend off – with the 8th round, the Spring Creek National taking place at Millville, Minnesota. The JGRMX/ Yoshimura Suzuki Factory Team has suffered some setbacks with rider injuries so far in the 450 class, but have now hired Fredrik Noren, who debuted the Factory RM-Z450 at Southwick at the end of June with a 5-7 finish and backed-it-up with 8th last time out at Southwick. Noren is the top Suzuki rider in the 450cc series, holding 11th overall; just 4 points from a top-10 slot.

In the 250s, Alex Martin and Kyle Peters continue to impress on their JGRMX/ Yoshimura Suzuki Factory Team RM-Z250s, with Martin coming back from a technical issue to podium in the 2nd race at Southwick. Martin was third in the race and holds 9th overall in the points. Peters is 22nd in the standings after an up-and-down season so far but is aiming for a strong performance following his 7th position last time out.
