2001 KAWASAKI NINJA® ZX-11

Open Class Performance at an Incredible Value

For nearly a decade the NINJA® ZX-11 motorcycle set the standard for open-class sportbikes. Although surpassed in ultimate NINJA performance by the introduction of Kawasaki’s ZX-12 last year, the ZX-11 returns to the Kawasaki line-up to offer serious sportbike enthusiasts all of the awesome power, solid handling, and comfortable, world-class ergonomics for which the ZX-11 is famous at a price that makes it the best bargain in its class.

The ZX-11 appeals to riders in various situations. Its suspension tuning and an ergonomic layout provide a smooth, comfortable and extremely competent ride on the highway or winding back roads.

Swathed in Luminous Vintage Red for 2001, the aerodynamically slippery bodywork and massive twin-spar aluminum frame of the ZX-11 exudes a powerful, yet elegant presence. The compact four-cylinder 1052cc liquid-cooled engine with 16 valves and dual overhead cams backs it up.

Large 40mm carburetors feed the compact combustion chambers through ultra-short Straight Shot Intake ports that increase horsepower and provide instant throttle response. Kawasaki’s Twin Ram Air induction system pressurizes the airbox with cool, dense air and, as speeds increase, more fuel mixture is packed into the cylinders for stronger power at highway speeds. Extra-large exhaust silencers help add to the engine’s power output while producing a throaty growl that signals this NINJA means business. A gear-driven engine balancer smoothes engine vibration for increased rider comfort.

The engine is hung in a twin-spar frame made from lightweight welded sheet and hollow cast aluminum pieces and is extremely rigid for precise handling. Aluminum is also used throughout the UNI-TRAK® rear suspension system that progressively increases the damping and spring rate forces on the single shock as the suspension is compressed. Small bumps get light damping while big bumps get more damping to provide a smoother ride with more comfort, better steering and high-speed handling control.

At the front, a 43mm conventional fork with adjustable preload and rebound damping provides exceptional rigidity and control. Opposed four-piston caliper brakes with 320mm front discs provide incredible stopping power to match the ZX-11’s ability to accelerate. The single, 250mm rear disc also features an opposed-piston caliper.

Other features include a 6.3-gallon fuel tank that allows extended rides, adjustable front brake and clutch levers, push-to-cancel turn signals, trip meter, digital clock, lockable fairing compartments, helmet locks, centerstand, rear grab rail and pop-out tie-down hooks.

The NINJA ZX-11 combines a proven powerplant and world-class ergonomics for a smooth, comfortable and exhilarating ride that is one of the best bargains in its class.

2001 KAWASAKI NINJA® SPORTBIKES

Built to Deliver Performance

For years Kawasaki NINJA® motorcycles have defined the sportbike market and represented the company’s long-standing performance heritage. The 2001 Kawasaki NINJA motorcycle line-up gives motorcyclists a variety of ways to experience Kawasaki’s legendary performance, from the most powerful NINJA ever to entry-level models that can still deliver plenty of thrills to seasoned veterans.

The NINJA ZX-12R is the flagship model in the NINJA motorcycle line-up and is the most radical embodiment of race-proven technology that Kawasaki has ever produced. Quite simply, the ZX-12R was built to deliver the lightest weight and highest power-to-weight ratio of any machine in its class.

The very first NINJA was a 900cc machine, and the ZX-9R carries on the tradition of providing open-class power in a lightweight, nimble package. This is the model that became the first production motorcycle to break the nine-second barrier in the enthusiast magazines’ quarter-mile testing.

In recent years Kawasaki has dominated the AMA/Prostar Motorcycle Drag Racing Series, with Kawasaki Drag Racing’s Rickey Gadson winning three consecutive AMA/Prostar 750 Superbike National Championships, and teammate Marty Ladwig winning the 1999 600cc SuperSport title.

Kawasaki Road Racing uses the NINJA ZX-7R as the base for its AMA U.S. Superbike Championship assault and it has carried team rider Eric Bostrom to victory. Bostrom also won on the NINJA ZX-6R that kept him
near the top of the 2000 600cc SuperSport Series all season long. The ZX-6R has also been highly acclaimed in the enthusiast press, winning several 2000-model 600cc sportbike comparisons and being chosen “Best Middleweight Streetbike” in Cycle World magazine’s annual Ten Best Bikes feature.

For those looking for NINJA performance at an economical price, Kawasaki has three models. The NINJA ZX-6 features SuperSport championship-winning performance in an extremely comfortable and user-friendly package, while the NINJA 500R and 250R models provide excellent entries to the NINJA motorcycle fold.

No matter which NINJA motorcycle it is, customers can always count on getting a motorcycle that performs.
