Gardner and Manzi Aim to Turn Things Around in Hungary for Round 4

The GYTR GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team returns to action this weekend (1–3 May) at Balaton Park, Hungary, for Round 4 of the 2026 FIM Superbike World Championship.
Remy Gardner is eager to get back on track and deliver a strong performance after a tough event at the all-new circuit last year. The Australian showed promising pace on Friday, but his weekend was cut short when he was taken out just two corners into Race 1. He was subsequently declared unfit and unable to continue, meaning he never had the chance to fully demonstrate his potential over the race weekend. This year, he is determined to make up for that.
Rookie Stefano Manzi heads into the weekend with confidence after a positive performance in the Netherlands. The 2025 WorldSSP Champion will be racing at Balaton Park for the first time on his Yamaha R1, but both he and the team believe they can put together a solid weekend and continue closing the gap to the front runners.
The team will once again be joined by the Terra&Vita GRT Yamaha WorldWCR Team, with Maria Herrera and Natalia Rivera competing in Round 3 of the WorldWCR season. Herrera strengthened her championship lead in the previous round with a race win and a second-place finish, while Rivera impressed with her pace and determination.
Track action begins on Friday with free practice sessions. Superpole is scheduled for 11:15 local time on Saturday, followed by Race 1 at 15:30 (CEST). On Sunday, the Superpole Race will take place at 11:10, with Race 2 scheduled for 15:30.
Remy Gardner
“It’s great to be back racing so soon, especially after a demanding weekend in the Netherlands. We’re all eager to show our true potential and turn things around. Last year in Hungary wasn’t our luckiest weekend, but before the incident we showed strong pace. The track seems to suit us, so we’re confident we can have a good weekend and achieve solid results.”
Stefano Manzi
“I’m really looking forward to getting back on track, and it’s good to race again so soon. We had a decent weekend in the Netherlands and finished on a high, so we want to build on that momentum. The goal is to find a good feeling right from the start. So far, it’s been challenging to be fast from Friday, even though we’ve improved a lot by Sunday each round. The level is extremely high, so we need to be competitive from the very beginning to fight closer to the front.”
