2027 Ducati DesertX 100: PUT DUCATI ON ICE.
Introducing the new 2027 Ducati DesertX 100…
DesertX 100 melds today’s Ducati adventure attitude and the 1981 Pantah “Ice”, an unconventional concept that took the Bolognese brand off-road, to the ice tracks, becoming one of the brand’s boldest visual statements.
DesertX 100
DesertX 100 is created in response to an authentic need for adventure. A bike designed to offer control, balance and consistent feeling on any terrain, and particularly off-road. The riding position, chassis and ergonomics work together to ensure confidence, precision and freedom of movement, both on and off the beaten track.
DesertX 100 (Pantah “Ice” – 1981)
The livery of the DesertX 100 is inspired by the graphics of the 1981 Pantah “Ice,” one of the most curious examples of product placement in Ducati’s history.
The Pantah “Ice” was nothing more than a modified Pantah 500, characterized by the addition of unusual, studded tyres and the removal of the braking system, so that it could be used on ice tracks.
At the time, Ducati was managed by state-owned holdings, which also controlled car manufacturers like Alfa Romeo. In the early 1980s EFIM, the body that controlled both Ducati and Alfa Romeo, organized a championship for Alfasud cars on the ice tracks of the Alps. The races were held in two heats; during the break between the first and second races, the brightly coloured Pantah “Ice” bikes put on a spectacular show for the crowd. The “Ice” bikes were produced in various liveries; the one chosen for the DesertX 100, yellow with blue stripes, belongs to a model that until a few years ago was part of the Ducati Museum collection.
The DesertX 100 features an Alcantara seat with an embroidered Ducati 100 logo, and the name and serial number on a Centenary Bronze plate attached to the handlebar risers of the billet triple clamp. The high front mudguard and aluminium radiator grille enhance the model’s off-road credentials. Standard equipment includes a Centenary Bronze fuel cap and a headlight grille, which are not approved for road use.

Pantah “Ice”
The 1981 Pantah “Ice” represents one of the most unique episodes in Ducati history. Nothing more than a modified Pantah 500, the bike had unusual, studded tyres and did away with the braking system, so that it could be used on frozen tracks. A very unusual usage, far from traditional racing. During a championship run on frozen Alpine tracks, the Pantah “Ice” bikes were used in a performance display between one car race and the next. Brightly coloured and surprising, they guaranteed an unforgettable show for the crowd. One of these bikes, complete with yellow graphics and blue band, was Read more
Livery
The DesertX 100 livery directly recalls the 1981 Pantah “Ice”, reinterpreting one of the most unusual bikes ever built by Ducati. It is a visual tribute to the bike that was displayed in the Ducati Museum for many years, transformed into a modern-day source of inspiration. The colours and graphic accents evoke the idea of non-conformity and experimentation, creating a dialogue with the functional, modern forms of DesertX. The livery does not celebrate a victory, but an idea: that of a Ducati that can break the mould and transfer its heredity to unexpected and unusual contexts.

A legacy transformed into vision: the visual rendering of Ugo Nespolo
Where art meets speed
Ugo Nespolo, a leading figure in Italian art over the past 50 years, is entrusted with the visual interpretation of Collezione100, his creative eye transforming this commemorative project into a nuanced dialogue between motorcycling, historical identity, and figurative art.
Designed for collectors
For each bike, Ugo Nespolo created two original works: one dedicated to the historic model of inspiration, the other to its contemporary interpretation. These unique artworks will become part of the Ducati Corporate Collection.
The works give rise to numbered editions, bearing the same sequential number as the bike and signed by the artist, which will be delivered along with each Collezione100 bike, heightening their value as a collector’s item.
- Ten significant moments in Ducati’s history have inspired ten unique motorcycles, produced in a numbered series limited to just one hundred units each
- Technology, design, art: each motorcycle features unique components which, together with its livery, make it a one-of-a-kind icon, accompanied by two works of art
- Owners of each model will be able to complete the “Collezione 100” experience with a helmet and jacket in the same livery as the motorcycle
- The two DesmosediciGP bikes of the Ducati Lenovo team will race with a special livery that combines those of the Collezione 100 into a single design.
The Mugello circuit, where the Desmosedici MotoGP bikes have written numerous unforgettable pages in Ducati’s racing history, is the setting for the presentation of the Collezione 100. Ten liveries, ten numbered editions, all strictly limited to just 100 units each. True contemporary icons created to mark the centenary of the Borgo Panigale-based manufacturer.
Each model is made unique by a special specification: a livery inspired by an iconic motorcycle from Ducati’s history, Alcantara or leather seats with an embroidered Ducati logo, and premium technical details such as Centenario Bronze brake calipers. This colour is exclusive to this collection and is also used for the fuel cap crown, and for the plate bearing the model number riveted onto the steering head or the billeted triple clamps. Various mechanical components on each bike feature an exclusive colour scheme that complements the historic livery. The dry clutch, a first for V2 models*, completes the authenticity of this historic collection.
Each bike comes with a dedicated rear stand, finished in the same colours as the livery, a bike cover and a certificate of authenticity. And of course, as with all Ducati collector’s bikes, the experience of getting on the bike is made even more special by the dashboard featuring a dedicated ignition ceremony. Each owner of the Collezione 100 Collection can complete their look with a helmet and a technical jacket in a limited edition, characterized by a colour scheme that reflects that of the motorbike.**
The Collezione 100 represents yet another link between Ducati and the art world. Ugo Nespolo, a leading figure in Italian art of the late 20th century and a passionate Ducati enthusiast, has enthusiastically joined this project. Each model in the 100 Collection will be accompanied by a pair of numbered art prints bearing the same serial number as the motorcycle and signed by Nespolo himself, who has interpreted every model in the 100 Collection and the historic motorcycle that inspired its livery in his own unmistakable, colourful and dynamic style.
The result is a collection of true gems: unique, unmistakable and full of character.
The presentation took place on the legendary straight of the Tuscan circuit where, for the first time in MotoGP history, Ducati staged a vernissage. A veritable art gallery trail, where Nespolo’s works welcomed guests, accompanying them on a journey culminating in the unveiling of the ten motorcycles of the 100 Collection.
During the event, Marc Marquez and Pecco Bagnaia unveiled the Lenovo team’s bikes, featuring a special livery for the Mugello race. The design combines historic Ducati logos with dynamic geometric patterns, bringing together the ten graphics from the 100 Collection bikes on the fairing. The details celebrating the centenary and the dates 1926–2026 feature glitter, evoking the historic 750 Imola Desmo, whilst on the front fairing the modern graphics contrast with an oval number plate and vintage-style font.
Several Ducati partners have drawn inspiration to create products dedicated to the Borgo Panigale manufacturer’s centenary. The Collezione 100 has in fact inspired a series of four rucksacks created by Piquadro, unveiled during the event. Carrera, the official sponsor of the Ducati Lenovo team, has instead presented the Anniversary Edition sunglasses, produced in a numbered series limited to 500 pieces.
The next opportunity for the public to see the Collezione 100 in person will be at World Ducati Week, where they can be admired in a space reserved for all Ducatisti on 3, 4 and 5 July.
Subsequently, the ten motorcycles will embark on a journey that will take them to the Goodwood Festival of Speed, a world-class event and a must-attend for car and motorbike enthusiasts. Finally, the 100 Collection will return to Bologna, where it will be proudly displayed in various museums across the region.

2027 Ducati DesertX 100 Totalmotorcycle.com Features and Benefits
890 cc V2 twin: balance and precision.
The 890 cc Ducati V2 is the lightest twin-cylinder engine ever produced by Ducati. With its 110 hp, it delivers 70% of its maximum torque at just 3,000 rpm. This feature is essential for off-road riding: at the first touch of the throttle, the immediate torque helps overcome obstacles, while the excellent smoothness at low revs ensures a fluid and controllable response, making riding pleasant and natural even on the road. Instant torque, the same smooth response
Functional design and off-road stability
The new design underscores the shift towards a more modern and overtly off-road character, where form follows function in every detail. Each element is designed to be sturdy and functional, from the new position of the air filter that simplifies and speeds up cleaning operations, to the tank with replaceable covers, designed to make repairs after a crash simpler and more economically sustainable. A design choice that transforms the aesthetic into a concrete benefit during use.
Custom-designed chassis
The DesertX chassis is redesigned to offer more neutral, easy and intuitive off-road riding. The cast aluminum monocoque structure, designed specifically for this model, serves as both frame and airbox, exploiting the V2 engine as a structural element. At the rear, the steel subframe retains the steel trellis tube structure, integrating the shock linkage and simplifying maintenance operations. To ensure greater stability off-road, the steering is now lighter and helps reduce any inadvertent front-end movement at high speed.
Redesigned ergonomics
The riding position allows for very natural off-road riding, with a wide handlebar, a bike that is narrow between the legs, and a sense of lightness that heightens control. The new ergonomic setup, which sees the footpegs set back and the seat and handlebar shifted forwards, encourages a more active, precise posture that is ideal through technical sections. The narrower 4.8 gal tank facilitates movement in the seat, while integrated crash pads protect the bike even during low-speed crashes, for a more relaxed off‑road experience.
New dash
The horizontal dash, complete with utility bar as standard, frees up space on the upper part of the fairing for the installation of navigation tools and ensures a better visual of the area immediately in front of the bike, allowing the rider to more easily identify any off-road obstacles when up on the pegs. The dash is completed with a new 5” TFT with 3 info modes.
Benchmark electronics
The DesertX integrates a latest-generation electronics package based on a 6-axis inertial platform and designed specifically for off-road use. Six available Riding Modes (Sport, Touring, Urban, Wet, Enduro and Rally) offer a segment-topping level of customisation. The electronics controls can be adjusted according to different levels or disabled, to adapt the bike to different riding styles, levels of experience, and conditions, even during the most demanding off-road conditions.
New Kayaba Fork
The fully adjustable 46mm front fork is designed to adapt to the needs of every rider and every type of terrain. The hydraulic compression and rebound damping is now adjustable on both cartridges, allowing for more precise tuning and superior response control. The internal structure has been refined to improve sliding and bump absorption, allowing the DesertX to better copy the roughness of the terrain and making riding easier, more intuitive and less tiring thanks to the reduction in stress transmitted to the rider.
Progressive Cinematics Rear Suspension
The most significant evolution concerns the rear suspension, which adopts a new full floater system capable of ensuring progressive behaviour. Unlike traditional suspension, where force increases linearly with compression, this solution allows for increased support as the suspension works, offering a softer response in the early part of the stroke and more sustained support when high forces come into play. In this way, the DesertX better absorbs bumps without sacrificing control, ensuring comfort and stability both on and off-road, on all types of terrain.
Wheels and tires
DesertX adopts tubeless spoked wheels measuring 21” at the front and 18” at the rear, the ideal configuration for confident off-road riding. The Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tires, measuring 90/90 and 150/70, offer the perfect balance for all-round use, ensuring grip, stability and versatility on any surface. Thanks to triple homologation, the rider can also choose alternative solutions to further emphasise the bike’s off-road or road-going performance, adapting it to their specific needs.
The 890 cc 90° V-twin is equipped with IVT intake variable timing with helical spring valve return. With power of 110 hp and maximum torque of 68 lb-ft, of which 70% is already available at 3000 rpm, the engine ensures immediate traction at low speeds for very smooth delivery.
Redesigned transmission
The gear ratio is designed specifically for DesertX. The final drive ratio of first and second gear is shortened to heighten usability at low speeds and drive at full load, while the ratios for fifth and sixth gear are lengthened to make for more comfortable road-riding. In sixth gear, at 130 km/h, the engine runs at a lower speed than the previous generation (5,800 rpm), improving comfort and smoothness. Finally, the new flywheel contributes to even smoother power delivery, improving driving quality at all speeds. The new flywheel helps ensure smoother delivery across the rev range.
The benefits of Intake Variable Timing System (IVT)
The variable intake valve timing system contributes to extremely smooth and full power delivery at low revs, without compromising Ducati’s sporty character at medium and high revs. Thanks to this solution, the engine is smooth and controllable even at 2,000 rpm, allowing you to tackle dirt tracks at low-speed and trial-style passages with precision. This is a real advantage that comes from variable timing, which adapts the engine’s behaviour to different riding conditions.
Benchmark service intervals for the category
Spring-valve timing allows for the definition of an engine that prioritises steady running at low rpm and contained maintenance costs; the valve clearance check is required every 28,000 miles and an oil change every 2 years or 9,000 miles, confirming benchmark intervals for the category
Built to resist, designed to excite.
A solid structure, a precise response. Every element of the bike has been reconceived to offer greater solidity and ease of use when off-roading and keep maintenance complications to a minimum. The chassis and ergonomics ensure a more precise, intuitive and satisfying ride, transforming technical robustness into an experience of control and pleasure on any terrain.
More agile, more precise
The chassis and structural elements of the second generation DesertX have been redesigned to reduce overall weight while improving robustness, for a total wet weight no fuel of 461 lb.
New aluminum monocoque frame
The new monocoque frame helps contain overall weight and integrates the air filter housing into the structure. This solution simplifies and speeds up cleaning and disassembly, particularly during off-road use. Inside the frame are the air filter, throttle bodies and complete fuel system including injectors. The monocoque structure also allows for substantial stiffness levels that improve the bike’s overall agility.
Rear subframe
The rear subframe of the DesertX retains the steel trellis tube structure. Anchored to the monocoque structure at the top and to the engine at the bottom, it is designed to integrate the shock linkage and simplify access to the components.
This solution ensures maintenance operations can be carried out quickly and efficiently, saving time and money in the long run.
More robust double-sided swingarm for off-roading
The aluminum alloy swingarm immediately transmits solidity and control for confident riding on off-road terrain. The pivot is positioned to ensure maximum traction on low-grip terrain.
New Kayaba Fork
The 46 mm front fork, with 230 mm of fully adjustable travel, is designed to adapt to the needs of every rider and every type of terrain. The hydraulic compression and rebound damping is now adjustable on both cartridges, allowing for more precise calibration and superior control of the response. The internal structure has been refined to improve sliding and impact absorption, allowing the DesertX to better copy the roughness of the terrain and making riding easier, more intuitive and less tiring thanks to the reduction in stress transmitted to the rider.
Progressive Rear Suspension
The most significant evolution involves the rear suspension, which adopts a new full floater kinematic system capable of ensuring progressive behaviour. Unlike a suspension without linkages, where the force increases linearly along the stroke, this solution increases support as the suspension works, offering a softer response in the first phase and more sustained support when high strokes come into play. The result is a DesertX that can effectively absorb bumps while maintaining control, comfort and stability, both on and off-road, on all types of terrain.
Braking system optimised for off-road
The new braking system by Brembo offers a precise, consistent and controllable response, particularly in more technical situations. The 305 mm double front disc with M4.32 callipers and axial master cylinder ensures power and control. The rear features a 265 mm disc and an easily adjustable pedal, with geometry optimized for off-roading. The new system allows off-road riding enthusiasts to mount the high front mudguard with no need for any additional kits.
Redesigned riding position
New ergonomics favour a central and reactive posture, ideal for off-roading and equally precise on the asphalt. Smooth engine delivery facilitates traction management, while the updated chassis reduces rider effort when adjusting setup. The handlebar is comfortable whether the rider is up on the pegs or seated, and the seat offers freedom of movement along its entire surface, making it easier to reach the ground during low-speed manoeuvres. Even the ergonomics of the handlebar levers have been revised and optimised to reduce fatigue for the rider.
Seat
With a standard height of 880 mm and versions that can drop the bike to as little as 840 mm*, reaching the ground becomes easier and safer thanks to a particularly narrow straddle arch. A geometry designed to support the rider whether up on the pegs or seated, and a design that amplifies the sense of control thanks to the bike’s extremely slender form, for a more connected and intuitive feel.
*with suspension lowering kit
Thermal comfort on the move
DesertX improves thermal comfort thanks to two new openings integrated into the fairing and tank, designed to channel airflow towards the legs and inside the fairings, promoting more effective heat dissipation and greater comfort when riding.
Advanced electronics for total control.
Technology at the service of control: the advanced electronics package supports every action with intelligent intervention that is never invasive, for safer, more natural riding on any terrain. Support that adapts to experience level and riding style but guarantees the rider full enjoyment of control.
6 Riding Modes to adapt to every situation and riding style
The Riding Modes on the Ducati DesertX offer six different pre-set riding styles (Sport, Touring, Urban, Wet, Enduro and Rally) for bike behaviour that perfectly adapts to the rider, the type of surface and the environmental conditions, with two dedicated off-road modes. Each Riding Mode is associated with a different setup of the control parameters. Switching between the different Riding Modes, the rider can instantly adjust the engine character and electronic control intervention.
Sport Riding Mode
For the highest level of performance on asphalt. In this Riding Mode, the engine promises the maximum possible performance, unleashing its full 110 hp and offering the most direct throttle response and High Power Mode.
Touring Riding Mode
The V2 delivers maximum power of 110 hp but engine delivery is smoother and more confidence inspiring. Active safety is boosted with a higher level of DTC and DWC intervention.
Urban Riding Mode
Engine power is reduced to 95 hp and the throttle response is gentle, as in Touring mode. DCT and DWC are set to a very high level of intervention.
Wet Riding Mode
Designed for use on wet asphalt. In this mode, the level of intervention is set to the max to ensure greater safety and stability even in unpredictable situations.
Enduro Riding Mode
This Riding Mode is designed to be efficient in any off-road situation, including slower and more technical sections. The Power Mode limits maximum engine power to 75 hp, but the throttle response is rapid, for the right level of reactivity. The ABS has a default setting of level 2 but can be disabled. DWC is disabled so as to be able to lighten the front end when tackling obstacles.
Rally Riding Mode
This high-performance mode for offroad riding allows more expert riders to fully exploit DesertX capability over fast off-road sections. The engine delivers 110 hp and the throttle reacts instantly. DWC is disabled while DTC is set at a very low level, allowing for controlled sliding of the rear wheel. ABS has a default setting of level 1 and can be disabled.
New Ducati Quick Shift 2.0
The DesertX uses the second-generation DQS. With respect to the traditional system, the gear lever no longer requires a Hall-effect microswitch, as the shift strategy is based solely on the gear sensor positioned on the gear drum. The rider benefits from shifting that feels more direct (with reduced travel), repeatable and less “gummy”, particularly appreciated during sports riding. No microswitch means the lever is less exposed to dust, impact and atmospheric agents.
Latest-generation electronics equipment
The Ducati DesertX is equipped with sophisticated, modern electronics based on the use of the 6-axis inertial platform, which can instantly identify roll, yaw and pitch. The electronics package includes:
Cornering ABS adjustable to 4 levels. It can be disabled in Enduro and Rally Riding Mode
Ducati Traction Control (DCT) with 8 levels + OFF
Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC) with 4 levels + OFF
Ducati Quick Shift (DQS)
Engine Brake Control (EBC) with 3 levels
New horizontal 5” TFT
The electronics functions of the DesertX are managed via the 5” color TFT, redesigned to leave space for the instrumentation and with two USB ports as standard. Three Info Modes – Road, Road Pro and Rally – each of which switches automatically from day to night mode, can be selected using the joystick on the left block. The TFT is positioned to offer the best possible visibility even when riding up on the pegs and its horizontal orientation leaves room for navigation tools in the space above, thanks to the standard issue utility bar.
Full-LED light assembly with horizontal DRL
The DesertX flaunts a full LED lighting assembly. The front headlights retain the dual module design, an element that has made the Ducati model so iconic, while a now horizonal DRL gives the bike a more modern look. The full LED turn signals are dynamic*. Functions including Coming Home and Ducati Brake Light EVO round out the system, heightening practicality and safety in every situation and under hard braking.
*function not available in the USA.
The perfect engine for the DesertX
The new 890 cc Ducati V2 is the the lightest twin-cylinder engine with four valves per cylinder ever produced by Ducati and, thanks to the IVT variable intake valve timing system, unique in its segment, it delivers generous power across the entire range of use with a prompt response every time the throttle is opened.
Its 110 hp are the perfect power to combine off-road effectiveness and on-road riding enjoyment. It has a maximum torque of 92 Nm, with a more sustained curve than the previous model: 70% of the maximum value is already available at 3,000 rpm, ensuring quick response and great acceleration when exiting corners. The gear ratios specifically designed for the DesertX offer shorter first four gears to overcome even the most challenging obstacles, and a longer sixth gear to improve fuel consumption and comfort during fast transfers. Finally, the class-leading service intervals (45,000 km for valve clearance checks and oil changes every 15,000 km or two years) underline the reliability of this engine and keep maintenance costs down.
Monocoque frame and racing suspension
The monocoque frame, unique in its segment and developed specifically for the DesertX, uses the engine as a structural element and also acts as an airbox, ensuring maximum compactness and increasing the rigidity of the frame to improve handling and intuitive riding. The new position of the airbox also offers better access to the air filter, which can be easily removed and cleaned after every off-road ride.
The rear trellis frame is sturdy and reliable and is a clear reference to Ducati’s styling tradition. It has been designed to offer easy access to the engine components, facilitating operations and reducing maintenance costs. The aluminium swingarm, on the other hand, has been developed specifically for the DesertX and ensures the necessary strength to tackle any obstacle.
The braking system is by Brembo, with M4.32 monobloc calipers, new 305 mm discs, dedicated pads and an axial pump with a newly designed lever, offering the rider greater modulation off-road and improved lever feel, while maintaining optimal braking power for road use. The new braking system also allows even the most off-road-oriented enthusiasts to fit the high front mudguard without the need for additional kits.
The new chassis guarantees better off-road performance while preserving the balance and precision on the road that have made the DesertX a benchmark in its segment. Easy for beginners and high-performing in the hands of professionals, the second generation DesertX is equipped with rear suspension with Full-floater progressive linkages, a solution that improves both comfort and off-road behaviour. Unlike a suspension without linkages, where force increases linearly throughout the stroke, this solution increases support as the suspension works, offering a softer response in the first phase and more sustained support when high stresses come into play.
The new Kayaba fork is smoother and better absorbs rough terrain, and is equipped with independent hydraulic adjustments on both legs, offering more experienced riders the ability to more effectively customise the bike’s behaviour over obstacles.
The 21-inch tubeless spoked wheels at the front and 18-inch wheels at the rear are fitted with Pirelli Scorpion Rally Street tyres in sizes 90/90 and 150/70, the best choice for all-round motorcycle use. However, those who want to enhance its off-road or on-road capabilities can choose alternative solutions in the Pirelli Scorpion range thanks to DesertX’s triple homologation.
Off-road ergonomics
The riding position is specialised, as befits a true off-road bike: wide handlebars, narrow between the legs, light and responsive. The new ergonomic triangle has been defined by moving the footpegs back and the seat and handlebars forward, resulting in a less seated position for the rider to improve sport riding on the road and control of the bike off-road.
The new 18-litre polymer fuel tank is slimmer and lighter, facilitating movement in the saddle, and thanks to the protective crash pads, it is also very resistant in the event of typical low-speed falls during off-road use. In addition, its structure positions the fuel volume very low, thus reducing the height of the bike’s centre of gravity and enhancing its handling and manoeuvrability.
The side panels are designed to complement body movements and feature a texture that increases grip and feel with the bike, making standing riding easy and fun. The front mudguard is positioned higher than on the previous model to provide greater clearance above the tyre and allow for more mud accumulation without blocking the front wheel when riding on heavy terrain.
The horizontal dashboard, with the standard utility bar, frees up space in the upper part of the fairing to mount navigation instruments and offers greater visibility of the area immediately in front of the bike, allowing for more accurate identification of obstacles when riding standing up off-road.
The new DesertX has a seat height of 880 mm, which can be reduced to 840 mm by adopting the lowered seat and suspension kit.
Advanced electronics for total control
The new Ducati DesertX is equipped with a latest-generation electronics package based on a 6-axis inertial platform and developed specifically for off-road use thanks to the experience of Ducati riders and testers. This system detects roll, pitch and yaw in real time, allowing for rapid, precise and calibrated intervention of all controls, such as Cornering ABS, Ducati Traction Control (DTC), Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC) and Engine Brake Control (EBC). Each of these can be adjusted to multiple levels of intervention, allowing the setup to be adapted to any situation, favouring performance in sport riding, on the road or off-road, or stability and safety in touring use.
Each electronic control is specifically configured within the six predefined Riding Modes (Sport, Touring, Urban, Wet, and the two designed for off-road use: Enduro and Rally) to modify the behaviour of the DesertX according to the situation and can of course be modified by the rider to customise each mode according to their riding style.
All information is displayed on the new, more comprehensive 5″ TFT dashboard, with a resolution of 800 x 480 and two USB ports as standard. The three display modes, Road, Road Pro and Rally, each with automatic switching from day to night display, are called Info Mode and can be selected using the petal joystick on the left block. Each mode displays the most relevant information for each context to maximise readability. In Road and Road Pro modes, the display gives evidence to the most important info for road riding, while in Rally mode, the display becomes a true navigation tool complete with tripmaster.
The DesertX has four levels of Cornering ABS. Levels 1 and 2 are designed for specific off-road use, with level 1 dedicated to faster riders and level 2 allowing less experienced riders to become familiar with typical off-road manoeuvres, while reducing braking distance on dirt roads and ensuring the stability and safety criteria of our ABS. Levels 3 and 4 are optimised for road riding, offering maximum safety without ever being invasive. The ABS can be disabled for off-road use, in Enduro and Rally riding modes only.
The new Ducati Quick Shift 2.0 makes gear changes more direct and precise, and with no external sensors, it is less exposed to impacts, mud and dust. Thanks to this advanced electronics, the DesertX is fun and safe to ride on the road and performs well off-road, where it offers a more modern riding experience and significantly superior performance compared to the previous model.
Modern and essential, a true adventurer
The DesertX is a modern and lightweight off-road bike, and its style communicates this at first glance, following the principle of form follows function. The front end, which is 20 mm lower, makes the bike more dynamic and lightweight.
The side view of the bike, the cut of the fairing and the front light cluster reinterpret the concepts of the previous model in a more modern and dynamic way. Solutions such as the ducts that direct airflow to improve thermal comfort and the slimmer fuel tank protected by plastic covers make the bike more suitable for off-road use and enhance its aesthetics.
The tail has a technical and minimalist design. It allows accessories such as an auxiliary tank, passenger grab rail and side case frames to be fitted, leaving all the most important technical elements of the DesertX visible, such as the progressive rear suspension. The lack of body panels and the design of the rear light further emphasise the bike’s off-road personality.
Ducati Performance to enhance the DesertX
For those who want to enhance the versatility, comfort or off-road performance of the DesertX, Ducati has developed a range of Ducati Performance accessories. The rear auxiliary tank improves range, increasing the total capacity by 8 litres, and is designed to be a first point of contact, thus protecting the most critical components of the bike in the event of a fall. The radiator guards and bull bar help make the DesertX even more unstoppable, while the larger plexiglass and reinforced hand guards improve comfort and protection for the rider.
More traditional travellers will appreciate the capacity and robustness of the aluminium panniers with dedicated frames, while off-road adventure enthusiasts can choose the soft bag kit without frames, developed in collaboration with Mosko Moto.
On the electronics front, accessories designed for everyday use are available, such as the Ducati Multimedia System (DMS) for Bluetooth connection with your smartphone, and the Turn-by-Turn navigator, for always connected riding. Sports enthusiasts will also appreciate the approved silencer with titanium liners and carbon end caps, developed in collaboration with Termignoni.
