· After starting out fourth on the grid, Australian rider Senna Agius (Kalex) won the Moto2™ race at the 2026 Grand Prix of Spain, ahead of Spaniard Manuel Gonzalez and the pole-sitter, Dutchman Collin Veijer, for an all-Kalex podium. Agius also set the new race lap record on lap three in 1’39.642, improving the previous time by more than seven tenths. As for tyre choices, all riders opted unanimously for the front standard soft SC1, On the back, 12 riders opted for the standard supersoft SCX (including the three who landed on the podium) and 16 chose the supersoft F0192 specification development. · Quiles doubled up. The 19-lap Moto3™ race was won by pole-sitter Máximo Quiles (KTM), in his second win of the season. The Spaniard crossed the line two seconds ahead of Adrián Fernández (Honda), second, with David Muñoz (KTM) third. Most riders on the grid (21 out of 26), including those on the podium, chose the SC2 medium compound at front. While the choice for the back tyre was evenly split between the two available compounds, with 13 riders going for the SC1 soft (including Fernández) and 13 going for the SC2 medium (including Quiles and Muñoz). Clear faster lap and race pace improvements in Moto2™ “This weekend, our evaluation is very positive, especially in light of the results achieved in Moto2™. The F0192 – the new supersoft development rear tyre – made a strong debut. It helped Agius set the new all-time lap record on Friday, and it was chosen by more than half the riders for the race, which was much faster than last year’s, with a lap pace improvement of six tenths. At the same time, the standard supersoft SCX – the other option available – also confirmed its solidity and versatility: this was the go-to solution for all three riders on the podium, with Agius setting the new race fastest lap, and improving the previous record by a full seven tenths. The feedback shows that both rear options – standard and development – delivered an equivalent level of competitiveness over the weekend. A similar picture emerged in Moto3™, where both rear solutions – soft SC1 and medium SC2 – reached the podium, splitting the riders’ preferences during the race evenly.” |
