SUZUKI READY FOR AUSTRALIAN SBK 2ND ROUND

Team Suzuki Press Office – March 15.

The 2018 Australian Superbike Championship heads to Goulburn, New South Wales this weekend with defending ASBK Champion Josh Waters and newcomer Markus Chiodo aboard the Suzuki ECSTAR GSX-R1000 machinery in what is a home race for the Canberra-based racing outfit.

Waters, who currently lies second in the points said: “Wakefield Park is a tight and bumpy race track with plenty of hard braking area’s along with a critical final corner onto the straight, meaning we have to be on-point with a balanced bike set-up to be up the front this weekend. After testing last week, I’m confident that we’re heading in the right direction and I’m looking forward to getting to the track again on Friday and picking up where we left off and hopefully be back on the podium on Sunday afternoon.”

For 20-year-old Superbike Rookie Chiodo, Wakefield Park is one of the tougher tracks in the series. He said: “My strengths are definitely on longer flowing race tracks, so the short, stop-start style track here at Wakefield is one of the toughest for me, but I’m confident that I can continue to move forward. I can’t thank the team enough for the help and advice that I’m getting every time I jump on the bike.”

Team owner, Dale Brede added: “Testing went well last week, the team continues to work well together, and the riders keep taking strong steps forward. Markus is learning a lot from the entire team and I expect Josh to continue to prove why he is the reigning champion. Being so close to our home base in the ACT, as well as the series being so tight we really want to have a strong showing on Sunday and take home a decent points-haul and I think we’re in a position to do that.”
