Ride Hero Handlebar Seatpost Mount Review
Back to Motorcycle Product Review Page
Might be the longest name of any mount in the world, but it works.
GoPro Ride Hero Handlebar Seatpost Mount Review
The GoPro Ride Hero Handlebar Seat post Mount (do not try to say that 5 times fast!) will clamp to any bar (round, square or otherwise) that is from 0.75" to 1.4" which is perfect for most motorcycles as this is the size most common on our bikes. GoPro also sells the GoPro Roll Bar Mount (also reviewed by Total Motorcycle) for larger 1.4 to 2.5" bars.
For sanity sake, we will call it the GoPro Ride Hero mount and say that it does what it says on the tin. And it is really like the GoPro Roll Bar Mount just a smaller version. As mentioned most everything on a motorcycle will be in this diameter range (.75" to 1.4") so you will find a lot of mounting locations, everything from the handlebars to frame parts to rails and racks. You can even mount it in "reverse or upside down" for even more video options. The main difference between the GoPro Roll Bar Mount and the GoPro Ride Hero mount is the GoPro Ride Hero does not have the rubber vibration dampener piece, thus only gets 4 out of 5 stars from us as vibration is more noticeable due to this lack of rubber. I am not sure why GoPro left out the vibration dampening rubber piece but it's sorely missed. I'm sure creative riders reading this will add their own to it like we did, we found cutting a small strip off a used sock, wrapping it around the bar then attaching the GoPro Ride Hero Mount worked to reduce vibration for us. Also the GoPro Ride Hero Mount without the rubber piece does not secure as good. And while .75" is a good size, annoyingly you will find some parts in the .65" range you can't mount to easily.
That aside, the GoPro Ride Hero Mount opens up a whole world of video opportunities and unique angles. Sure, most will attach it to the handlebars but why not to the rear passenger peg or the grab rail?
Total Motorcycle mounted it different positions and have included video below for your judgement on what view you like best and what worked best.
Overall, we were very impressed with the mount and awarded it our Total Motorcycle Editor's Gold Award, 4 out of 5.
1. GoPro Ride Hero Handlebar Seatpost Mount can mount on a variety of diameters from 0.75 to 1.4 inches, even square or odd-shaped items. Perfect for motorcycle sizes.
2. Easy to screw and unscrew the clamp from the bar.
3. Easy to mount the GoPro HD camera on the mount.
1. No rubber vibration dampener as on the GoPro Bar Mount.
2. Would like to see it mount to a little smaller bar size.
