MJC Yamaha Official EMX125 Team’s Sleny Goyer has claimed second overall at round nine of the EMX125 Championship in Sweden. Placing fifth in Race One kicked off his weekend on a positive note before he finished as a close runner-up in Race Two to once again finish on the overall podium. Teammate Levi Townley also performed well, securing sixth overall on the day.
The penultimate round of the EMX125 Championship took the team to Uddevalla in Sweden. The hardpack and rugged circuit was in perfect condition all weekend and, after posting the second-fastest time in his qualifying group, Goyer headed to the line for Race One focused on a strong start.
Starting fourth in the opening race set the talented Frenchman up for a solid result. With very few passing opportunities around the circuit, the GYTR-kitted YZ125 rider was unable to advance up the leaderboard. He then lost a position to his teammate in the closing stages. Nevertheless, finishing fifth in Race One was a great start to the weekend for Goyer.
Race Two was much more exciting for Goyer who started second and kept the leader and eventual winner, Ricardo Bauer, in sight for the entire race. Crossing the line less than one second from victory underlined Goyer’s speed, and his runner-up finish in the race secured his place on the podium. The result marks his fifth overall podium of the season, while the points secured see him remain third in the standings and move to within 11 points of second with one round remaining.
Townley also enjoyed a solid weekend in Sweden. The New Zealander placed third in Race One and looked set for another strong result after his excellent start in the second race. However, a rival crashed in front of him on lap one, with Townley also falling in the incident. From 36th at the end of lap one, Townley worked his way up to 12th at the finish for sixth overall on the day. As a result, he moves up one position to 11th in the series standings.
The EMX250 Championship continued in Sweden too with its 10th round. VHR Yamaha Official EMX250 Team’s Jarne Bervoets delivered two consistent rides to place 15th overall. Teammate Mano Faure, who’s been absent from racing since round four due to injury, returned to secure 18th overall. The best-performing Yamaha-mounted rider on the day was Frenchman Tom Brunet who claimed seventh overall.
The EMX125 Championship concludes in three weeks’ time in Turkiye, with the EMX250 Championship continuing next weekend in the Netherlands.
