GoPro Roll Bar Mount Review

GoPro Roll Bar Mount
GoPro Roll Bar Mount

The GoPro Roll bar tube mount can mount to any bar (round, square or otherwise) that is from 1.4 inches to 2.5 inches. That’s a pretty big starting size considering a motorcycle doesn’t really use a diameter larger than the handlebars (.75″ to 1″) unless it’s to the chassis of the bike. But that’s fine as GoPro does sell the GoPro Handlebar Mount (also reviewed by Total Motorcycle) for sizes of 0.75″ to 1.4″ which is perfect for most motorcycles. For the GoPro Roll bar tube mount you will be mostly mounting it to the motorcycle’s frame and there can be some great video opportunities here not to be missed.

The GoPro Roll bar tube mount mounted on the motorbike’s chassis is a unique opportunity to present a view not normally seen (the most seen view is the handlebars) in a video. You can have it facing forward or backwards, below the frame or even at knee height depending on mount locations. We found it was easy to mount on even odd shaped bars and the “vibration dampener” on the inside of the mount was a really nice touch. The large black plastic screws helped fix the mount even with motorcycle gloves on, although the length of the plastic screws can be an issue depending on mount location. The only minor issue we had was the nut (see pictured below) would fall out of its plastic hole when securing the camera to the mount, this is the same with all GoPro mounts, not just this one and we would like to see GoPro use a “lock-tite” or other product to secure the nut in place.

Total Motorcycle mounted it on the bike’s frame both in the front and rear positions and have included video below for your judgement on what view you like best.

Overall, we were very impressed with the mount and awarded it our coveted Total Motorcycle Editor’s Choice Award, 5 out of 5.

The Positives

1. GoPro Roll Bar Mount can mount on a variety of diameters from 1.4 to 2.5 inches, even square or odd-shaped items.

2. GoPro uses a rubber “vibration dampener” on the inside of the mount.

3. Easy to screw and unscrew the clamp from the bar.

4. Easy to mount the GoPro HD camera on the mount.

The Negatives

1. Use of “Lock-tite” or other adhesive to keep the nut in place so it doesn’t fall out on occasion.
