2026 NATC Rounds 3 & 4 Recap

San Ysidro, NM

Rounds three and four of the 2026 AMA NATC National MotoTrials Championship Series brought the paddock to the grueling, high-altitude terrain of San Ysidro, New Mexico, testing riders with baking heat and a massive seven-mile loop. Navigating the unique traction of the area’s grippy slickrock and silty sand, the Beta trials team delivered standout performances across multiple divisions. Leading the charge in the Expert class, Cole Cullins secured two victories in each round, displaying precision to take the top spot in the Expert class. In the heavily contested sportsman and youth classes, Bennett Hubner put together a brilliant ride to claim the win in round four in the Junior Expert Sportsman division, while Jerome Gregorowicz pushed hard in the Expert Sportsman ranks to take a win on Saturday and a runner-up finish on Sunday. In the Women’s Pro division, Abigail Buzzelli continued her development, overcoming early arm-pump hurdles on Saturday to capture third place both days. Her performance was mirrored by a resilient victory from Christopher Buzzelli in Senior Expert Sportsman. Rounding out the team’s strong showing in the desert, Seth Vorseth fought his way to a Sunday fourth-place finish in the Expert class, while veteran Sportsman rider Tom Trantow held his ground in a competitive field to finish just outside the top ten.

“I had a great weekend in New Mexico, winning both days. The sections weren’t on the easy side, meaning any small mistake would be costly. Luckily, I was able to stay consistent and keep my feet on the pegs to get the win. The power of the new Factory Sincro was amazing at the higher altitude, and I can’t wait to try it out in Colorado for rounds 5 & 6.”

“Round 3 & 4 of the NATC championship in New Mexico were fun but challenging. The rocks were big, and so were the sections. I struggled with trusting the traction and keeping a level of precision and speed that was needed. I walked away this weekend with not the best result, but with a big laundry list of things to work on before Colorado. Thank you, Beta USA, for the amazing support, and Chris and Ty for helping out in the pits. Also, my dad for making the trek out there with my mom.”

“Rounds 3 & 4 were a lot of fun for me. The traction is always amazing in New Mexico.  Going 1,2,1 on Saturday sealed another win towards the championship. Sunday, I missed a marker on the first loop. No matter how well I rode, I couldn’t make up for that mistake, even with a clean last loop; I took second place. Overall, it was a great weekend, and my Sincro didn’t disappoint. Looking forward to rounds 5 & 6 in Colorado.”

“Practicing with the Beta Team in New Mexico gave me confidence heading into Saturday. The New Mexico Trials Association prepared an excellent trial. A nervous 5 in the first loop cost me, but I was able to improve in the second loop. The third loop, I was on track for a 3-point loop when I misjudged a pocket of dust and got another 5, so I ended up with 16/7/8 loop scores, which was competitive on the ES line overall, and I came away with the win in Senior Expert Sportsman. Sunday’s sections were a mix of easy and technical sections, which I enjoy. Halfway through the first loop, I got a flat tire in a section, which caused me to get a 5, and I had to ride most of the sections with a flat tire, which cost me valuable points. However, when I got back to the Beta pits, Chris Cullins got me back on the loop in no time, where I continued to improve. I was going for cleans and timed out of a few sections, so my overall score was higher than normal, but I had some strong rides and ones that I will improve upon in the future. I ended up P1 in Senior Expert Sportsman on Sunday as well. Overall, a great weekend and a huge shoutout to Beta USA and Cole Cullins for all the support. The new Sincro was glued to the rocks in NW and I felt that I had everything I needed to perform at my best.”

Class: Women Pro

“This was a really fun trial. The first day on the first loop, I started off with no fives, making it up every obstacle but playing it safe with dabs, then started working my score down in the second loop until I had an issue with arm pump, which swung the score the other direction. The next day went well. I came out swinging with more cleans, but the overall day was harder. Really saw improvement over my riding in West Virginia and can’t wait to do it again in Colorado, especially with the experience from New Mexico under my belt. As always, my Sincro ran flawlessly. Special thank you to Chris Cullins for all the quick pit stops between loops and to Rob Hertrich for minding.”

Class: Junior Expert Sportsman

“The New Mexico National was very fun and went well for me. I was feeling good on Friday during practice, and my bike was running very well. On Saturday, I had some dumb mistakes in places I didn’t need them. I also had many good rides, and I ended the day in third place. On Sunday, I rode much better and I ended the day in 1st place. My Sincro 125 has been great, and there are many things about it that I prefer over the Evo. Overall, it was a good weekend for me.”

Class: Sportsman

“The New Mexico Nationals featured some beautiful and very unique terrain for me, with large grippy rock formations mixed with deep sand that made for a challenging but enjoyable weekend. After both the bike and I adjusted to the altitude, I felt confident heading into Saturday’s event. Still, a combination of falling behind on nutrition and dealing with a mechanical issue cost me focus and points, as I finished in 14th. On Sunday, I came in better prepared mentally and physically, and I was much happier with how I rode, finishing 11th overall. The torque and traction of the Beta Sincro 300 4T were a huge advantage in the terrain and helped me successfully clear several large steps and technical climbs throughout the weekend. Big thanks to Chris and Cole Cullins for their structure, support, and help in the pits all weekend long.”
