• Second place for Simone Mancini in MX2 at the Faenza Night Race
The fifth round of the Italian Pro Prestige Motocross Championship took place this weekend at the Monte Coralli track in Faenza. Hosted at the “04 Park”—owned by motorcycle racing champion Andrea Dovizioso—and dubbed the “Night Race,” the event marked a new chapter in the history of the Italian series, which was held under floodlights for the first time.
After finishing second in the morning’s timed practice sessions, Alessandro Lupino placed fourth in the first moto—held in daylight—having recovered two positions. The second moto, run by night, got off to a difficult start; the Fiamme Oro rider found himself in 12th after the opening lap but managed to fight his way back to a fourth place finish. Riding the Desmo450 MX, Lupino secured fourth place overall—just missing the podium—a result that allowed him to close the gap to second place in the championship standings.
Alessandro Lupino: “It’s great racing in such a different setting. I finished P4 at the Faenza Night Race; I could have achieved more, but it didn’t happen. We’ll keep working hard ahead of the final round at Castiglione del Lago.”
It was a positive weekend in the MX2 class for Simone Mancini, who took second place overall in the season’s fifth round and continued his climb up the championship standings; he now sits just 70 points behind third place. Third in timed practice, the Beddini Racing Ducati MX2 Factory Team rider made a decent start in the first moto and used excellent speed to move up to second place by the time he crossed the finish line. His second start of the evening was less impressive, leaving him outside the top five as he crossed the line for the first time. However, maintaining a strong pace, Mancini brought his Desmo250 MX bike in third place, securing second place overall for the event. The final round of the Italian Pro Prestige Championship will take place on August 30th in Castiglione del Lago, where the national MX1 and MX2 titles will be decided.
Simone Mancini: “It was a solid weekend; I managed to maintain good speed in both motos, especially during the first part of the races. In the second moto, I had a drop in physical energy that slowed me down, so I had to settle for third place—though that was still enough to secure the second step of the podium. We’ll keep working to improve further.”
