Three Young bLU cRU Talents to Win Yamaha Support in 2019

The third running of the YZ125 bLU cRU Cup is now drawing to a successful close. Following the amazing reaction and enthusiasm for the all-new YZ65 and updated YZ85, Yamaha Motor Europe is excited to announce that the bLU cRU Cup program has expanded. In 2019 the bLU cRU Cup SuperFinale will expand to be made up of three classes, YZ65, YZ85 and YZ125 where one rider in each class will win a ‘ride’ with a Supported Yamaha team for the following year.

For young and ambitious off-road riders, the bLU cRU Cup provides the perfect entry into Yamaha’s racing pyramid. Riders that race a YZ65, YZ85 or YZ125 in one of the seventeen approved National Championships across Europe can apply pre-season to be part of the program.

The program is made up of two phases. Once accepted, Phase 1 will see the rider provided with a bLU cRU package that includes Yamaha Racing Paddock Blue clothing and a bLU cRU sticker set for their YZ65, YZ85 or YZ125 machines, which they are required to use in one of the officially approved National Championships. Each rider will receive added support from their chosen Yamaha distributor that aims to assist them in the development of their riding skills and career.

The second phase will commence as each championship draws to a close. 40 YZ65 riders, 40 YZ85 riders & 40 YZ125 riders will be selected to attend the Yamaha bLU cRU Cup SuperFinale at the 2019 Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations in Assen, The Netherlands. The riders that finish inside the top three, plus two wildcards in each class will be invited to attend the exclusive bLU cRU Masterclass.

The Masterclass has been created to inspire, educate and develop the next generation of motocross riders, providing an exclusive insight into building a championship career. It will be run by a highly acclaimed bLU cRU ambassadors, Jeremy Seewer, Kiara Fontanesi, Arnaud Tonus, Michael Van Der Mark, Alex Lowes, and Niccolò Canepa, and will take place over three days. The Yamaha jury will select and reward three lucky riders who have demonstrated their talent, motivation and desire to be something great, with Official Support in one of the three 2019 European Championship seasons in a Supported Yamaha Racing team.

The bLU cRU Cup is the foundation of Yamaha’s racing pyramid, where local distributors support regional and national teams in motorcycle championships. Road racing and motocross communities grow and thrive, as young fans become active participants and ambassadors, enjoying a lifetime of Yamaha product support and promotion. Since the launch of the YZ65, and with the updated bLU cRU program, it has never been easier for a rider to join the ‘victorYZone’.

Paolo Pavesio

Yamaha Motor Europe N.V Marketing Division Manager

“We started the bLU cRU program three-years ago focusing on YZ125 riders around Europe, and since then more than 300 young riders have participated in the program. The support of Youthstream and FIM Europe has been key since the beginning, and this new three-year agreement proves that we share the same long-term vision and goals of both growing the sport, and helping develop young racers. Following the launch of the new YZ85 and YZ65 machines we now want to make it possible for kids to first and foremost enjoy riding, secondly, to learn, and for the riders that have a special talent and are lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time, we would like to offer them our support in helping them grow with the aim of becoming professional racers. This is the motivation behind the path that Yamaha is building, starting from the 65cc division, through to 85cc and then eventually into the EMX125 Championship onboard 125cc motorcycles. I would like to thank Youthstream and FIM Europe for their support in this fantastic project, and we cannot wait to see the bLU cRU riders sharing the same track with the MXoN legends during the SuperFinale in the years to come.”

David Luongo

Youthstream Vice President

“The strategy behind the bLU cRU Cup is completely in line with the idea we, Youthstream, have to enhance the future of motocross. We also used this idea to grow the sport using the ‘pyramid’ technique where the European Championship EMX125, EMX250 and the progressing up to MX2 with MXGP being the tip. We are now working to make the floor zone of the pyramid, the EMX65 and EMX85 classes. It is very important to have the support of the manufacturers in this project, and we are very happy to support Yamaha’s involvement in the growth and development of the youth. It is very positive for the sport and the championship, and it is very important to build up the talent of the future in the correct way with the correct guidance. For this I would like to thank Yamaha Motor Europe for their support and commitment to the growth of young riders and the championship.”

Tony Skillington

FIM/CMS Director

“First and foremost I would like to thank Yamaha Motor Europe for taking this initiative. I think it is a fantastic opportunity for the kids to start racing motocross in a very professional and structured manner and I think it is very important to have these initiatives in place because it is important for the next generation of talent to be introduced to racing and taught in a professional way, so for this, we are happy to support Yamaha in this fantastic project.”
