Best in class…

Introduced on the market in 2007, the Aprilia Shiver 750 astonished the motorcycle world for its unprecedented contents. The Shiver 750 was in fact the first bike ever to be equipped with the Ride by Wire electronic throttle, a true revolution, a true historic transition as that from the analogue to the digital world. This technology, still unmatched by the direct competition, complements the excellent standard equipment which makes the Shiver “best in class”. Of course the Shiver 750 has evolved over time: Ride by Wire has become second generation, the ergonomics have been improved, with new handlebars and a tapered saddle, while a slight cosmetic facelift has made it even more appealing.

The pride of all Aprilia bikes, refined mechanics and a top class chassis, are once again the key to the success of the Shiver 750.
The Aprilia Shiver 750 is the naked everyone was waiting for. A design able to satisfy the disparate needs of those buying this type of bike.

From everyday use to a trip along mountain passes or use on the racetrack, the Aprilia Shiver 750 is completely at home in any situation, guaranteeing pure riding pleasure at all times.

EXCLUSIVE TECHNOLOGY AND ITALIAN STYLE.

The Aprilia naked which astonished the world with stylistic and technological content which was so fresh and new that it was inaccessible to the direct competition, confirms the leadership it has built thanks to its strong personality, riding pleasure and ergonomic features.
An innovative engine fitted with latest generation integral Ride by Wire, a multimap, a first-rate chassis which is able to satisfy all levels of riders, and technical outfit that no other bike even comes close to. Design
Shiver aims in no uncertain terms towards sportiness. The colouring with a new graphic (Bianco Glam and Nero Aprilia), the “wavy” discs and the sporty rider footpegs are just a few of the signals which Shiver gives off to the beholder. The line remains very streamline and Italian and thanks to the clever use of the new colours and graphics, Shiver moves up a few notches as far as balance and aggression are concerned, highlighting some techniques that really make a difference, such as, for instance, the side shock absorber or the mixed steel trellis frame and aluminium plates.

The engine
The V90 engine is the result of the extensive experience Aprilia has in high performance mechanics. Thanks to its peculiar technical features the Aprilia twin-cylinder is able to combine an exceptionally high level of output with maximum exploitation rates and user-friendly riding options. The research conducted to reach top performance levels in its category has led to the decision to adopt some advanced cutting-edge technical solutions. Generous torque is always available throughout the entire range of rpms, minimal vibrations, full output and power at the top of its category… all characteristics of the Aprilia V2 750.

Shiver naturally confirms the integrated multi-map Ride by Wire technology which evolves further, also taking advantage of the racing experience gained from the RSV4 superbike. This technical solution obviously represents the state-of-the-art version of engine control systems and Aprilia Shiver confirms its technological leadership position in its sector.

With the simple touch of the starter control the rider can select, even while moving but with closed throttle, one of the three maps, and radically change the motorcycle’s character:

– “Sport” to have the “throttle in hand” when a rider needs to let off steam exploiting the entire character of this Italian twin cylinder bike;

– “Touring” when smoother power delivery and fluidity are essential during the moments when the racing desires are set aside to enjoy a more relaxing ride, even two-up;

– “Rain” when grip is not as good as it should be and maximum safety is the main objective.

Thanks to the technical solutions installed on this bike the V90 Aprilia is able to achieve outstanding output values. Maximum power of 95 HP at 9,000 rpm and maximum torque of 81 Nm at 7,000 rpm is top of the line performance. The amazing torque available even at bottom end means that nothing can beat Shiver on mixed tracks.

Frame
You don’t change a winning team, so for this Aprilia Shiver the chassis choices are confirmed from the previous version, starting from the composite trellis frame and aluminium plates. The engine is exceptionally compact length-wise making it possible to obtain a highly agile bike, which is also helped by the particular choice to install the shock absorber on the side: this is not simply an aesthetic choice but a precise technical decision as it frees some extra space for the exhaust which can then benefit from optimal volumes.
The aluminium swingarm with the stiffener brace is dimensioned to withstand the asymmetrical stress caused by the lateral position of the shock absorber. The swingarm has benchmark rigidity levels in this category.

Suspensions
Upside-down fork with 43-mm stanchions and shell cast calliper mounts offering benchmark smoothness. Its 120-mm travel allows the rider to easily cope with city roads and mountain paths.
The lateral shock absorber is fitted directly to the swingarm using a cantilever set-up and the spring preload and hydraulic rebound are adjustable; the rear wheel travel is 130 mm.
Dynamic qualities also enhanced by the choice of the 5.5 x 17 rear wheel, which maximises its handiness and rapidity in direction changes.

Brakes
Along with its radial callipers, a solution that it pioneered for the sector, Shiver now adds wavy brake discs which ensure, besides a different aesthetic impact, a braking grip which is more decisive and can be modulated.
The rear brake features a 240 mm disc with single piston calliper to provide adequate support to the front system.
Both the front and rear systems have metal braided braking pipes, derived from the aeronautic sector, which eliminate the annoying buffering effect of conventional pipes and guarantee maximum braking accuracy and top-class system.
It also comes in an ABS version, and adopts a 2-channel Continental system which is able to guarantee maximum levels of safety when braking in all conditions.

2014 Aprilia Shiver 750 Totalmotorcycle.com Features and Benefits

THE ENGINE

PERFORMANCE AND CONTROL
The 90° V engine is a true milestone: a 750 capable of reaching the performance of engines with far bigger cubic capacity, boasting truly cutting-edge technical solutions. Thanks to these, the twin-cylinder Aprilia is able to combine high specific power with maximum usability and riding ease. Consistently generous and available torque across a wide range of revs, negligible vibrations, full output and best in class power are just some of the special features of the Aprilia 750 V2. But that’s not all: thanks to the fine electronic engine control and the Ride by Wire, power is always perfectly manageable, handling at low revs is assured and fuel is saved, also benefiting reliability over time.

THREE DIFFERENT CHARACTERS
Thanks to the Ride by Wire, at the touch of the start button, the rider can select, even on the move (but with the throttle closed) one of the 3 maps, radically changing the character of the bike:
• SPORT: direct and immediate response, for a more exciting ride;
• TOURING: smoother accelerator response, ideal in traffic;

• RAIN: reduces available torque by 25% for poor grip and wet road conditions.

TRI-MAP: THREE CHARACTERS AT YOUR FINGERTIPS
Another advantage of Ride by Wire electronics is that you can get different mappings selectable from the handlebars. Dorsoduro 750 has three, which correspond to three distinct characters:
• SPORT: direct and immediate throttle response, for a more exciting ride;
• TOURING: smoother accelerator response, ideal in traffic;
• RAIN: for poor grip and wet road conditions.

FRAME

Experts have always acknowledged that Aprilia bikes have the best chassis in their class.
The Aprilia Shiver 750 is concrete confirmation that once again Aprilia has managed to create a chassis which is both extremely easy and intuitive and incredibly high performance. The frame exploits all the knowledge Aprilia has gained in racing and also draws on new studies on mixed structures with the futuristic RXV and SXV, already winners of a number of titles on the racetrack. The top part of the tubular steel trellis is connected to large side plates by means of special high strength bolts.
This creates an extremely rigid lightweight frame, the best solution to harness all the horsepower of the Aprilia V90.

Creation of an Aprilia bike always involves synergy between chassis and engine engineers.
The fundamental design choices for the V90 engine led to construction of a highly rational and efficient frame. The reduced longitudinal dimensions of the engine made it possible to obtain a short, agile bike, helped by the particular side positioning of the shock absorber, not a simple cosmetic mannerism, but a precise technical decision which created valuable space for the exhaust manifolds whose shape and size have been calibrated perfectly to ensure maximum engine efficiency. This enabled the optimum exhaust manifold configuration to be obtained, without too heavily affecting the length of the bike and without exposing the shock absorber, a fundamental element for the ride, to heat stress.
The aluminum swingarm with reinforcement truss has been sized specifically to support the asymmetrical stresses caused by lateral positioning of the shock absorber. The rigidity of the swingarm sets new standards for the class

TECHNOLOGY

ADVANCED SUSPENSION
The 43 mm upside-down front fork with shell-cast feet to support the radial callipers benchmark smoothness. Its 120 mm stroke means it can tackle both the city and the stress of a sports riding style. The lateral shock absorber with is directly hinged to the swingarm in a cantilever configuration and has adjustable spring preload and hydraulic return.

SPORT BRAKING
To the existing radial calipers, a solution for which it was a pioneer in the field, the Shiver 750 adds brake discs with wave profile that provide, in addition to a different aesthetic impact, more determined braking. On the rear wheel there is a 245 mm disc with single-piston caliper, which provides adequate support to the front brake. The system is completed by metal braid hoses, able to ensure the optimum performance consistency even under prolonged stress.

DESIGN

As with every Aprilia product, the Shiver 750 has a highly innovative design where form and function come together to create an almost perfect object. The Aprilia Shiver 750 is pure technology and this is evident in its sharp, sporty lines.
The frame and engine, both brand new, are the foundations of the design and are also, rightly, the main elements characterizing the look of the Shiver 750. Each element has been designed to be not just beautiful but also functional. The design is refined, but at the same time clean-cut, without too many frills for the maximum possible functionality. The Aprilia Shiver 750 exhaust is also a very distinctive design element. On the Aprilia Shiver 750, the technical component becomes a design element at the same time, creating a bike both aggressive and at the same time elegant. The tank-seat-tail assembly further emphasizes the compactness of the bike. The rider becomes one with the machine, perfectly integrated in the short, agile, and sporty bike. This helps establish an immediate feeling between the rider and the bike, making everyone feel as if they have always been riding it. The strongly tapering tail also incorporates the twin exhaust with triangular silencers, a feature which makes the design even more aggressive, while keeping weight distribution highly symmetrical.
The Aprilia Shiver 750 is compact, functional and attractive. The adoption of a side shock absorber not only adds a further distinctive feature to the look of the bike, but also enables a rational and compact exhaust system to be fitted.
