….Touring by motorcycle has to be one of the most fun things in life to experience. The freedom you experience on the back of your motorcycle can only be discribed as a Zen experience. Those of you reading this that have traveled by motorcycle know what I mean. To those who haven’t yet traveled by motorcycle, a whole new world opens up to you that makes you feel more intune with your surroundings than anything else.
The one thing that really sticks in my mind is that you can experience the smells (good or bad) of your surroundings as you pass by them. Imagine riding along, enjoying the freedom of the ride, passing by a bakery and the smell of fresh bread baking in the ovens fills your nose. I can almost still smell it and the feelings it brings back are still vividly wonderful!
Another great thing about travel by motorcycle is the people you meet. You’ll find people friendly and inquisitive about you bike, your adventures, and you’ll meet people from all walks of life as you stop for gas, food or to take a snapshot. It seems people are more open and friendly to a stanger on a bike than in a car. Other bikers will offer a friendly wave as you pass them by on your bike, and if it even looks like you need any help at all, it won’t be long before the first biker that sees you stops and asks if you need help.
You will find that you may enjoy traveling by group rather than yourself. If so, there are many great riding groups out there to join that will fit what your riding style is. The Southern Cruisers Riding Club is one such group that I am apart of. But I do travel a lot by myself as well.
Travel by motorcycle is a wonderful enriching experience that I hope everyone gets to enjoy atleast once in their life, because it IS worth every minute of it!
