Please note, as this contest was held and located in Portugal and Spain we had to translate a lot of the follow into English so it may be a little rough in spots but you should get the idea.

Honda Garage Dreams Contest participate Honda dealers located in Spain and Portugal (Honda Iberia). They must make the contest with our new Honda CB 1000R. These are all the dealers that participate in Honda Garage Dreams Contest. Dare to know them and enjoy their creations.

Honda Motor Europe Iberia, a brand that carries the competition in its genes, has just kicked off the first motorcycle personalization contest of its history, in which all dealers of the brand in Spain may participate if they wish. For this, Honda has made available a large number of facilities. The winning bike of this unprecedented competition will be announced on April 7, 2019, in Vive la Moto (Barcelona).

No motorcycle manufacturer understands Honda as what “the power of dreams” is capable of. Honda manufactured its first motorcycle, in 1946, with the base of a bicycle. Just three years later, his company presented the first motorcycle completely designed and developed by Honda, which received the name Dream D-Type.

Currently, the Japanese brand is one of the most important vehicle manufacturers in the world, and one of the keys to its undeniable success is that Honda, just as its founder did, dreams of the future while they create it. The new Neo Sports Café range, which is part of Honda’s Heritage family, is a great example of this.

With a unique style and multiple customization options, Honda now extends the possibilities of all the dealers of the brand with the Honda Garage Dreams Contest, in which all dealers of the brand’s network in Spain can participate.

The start date of the Honda Garage Dreams contest will be on January 1, 2019 and will end on April 7, 2019. The winner will be announced at the Barcelona Motor Show, at the Live the Moto 2019 event.

Participants must meet a series of requirements to carry out their participation: they can not exceed a maximum budget in accessories and pieces of 3,000 euros and will have the possibility of having an additional budget for painting of a maximum of 2,000 euros. To verify that these requirements are met by the participants, all the customizations must be accredited by each dealer and by a specialist, who will verify the customizations.

The Honda Official Dealer winner of the contest, with its customization proposal, will be awarded a new HONDA CB1000R unit.

The three finalists of the Honda Garage Dreams Contest

The first motorcycle personalization contest in the history of the brand, in which dealers from Spain and Portugal participated, gathered at the Live the Motorcycle Show in Barcelona, where all those who They approached the Honda stand they had the opportunity to vote for their favorite.

Before the show, the finalists had been defined after the votes of the users on the web https://hondagaragedreamscontest.com/ . Thus, finally the motorcycles that opted for victory were the Monkey Kong prepared by Mallorca Motos ; Alfredo de Hakuba Motor ; and Nozomi , of VC Moto Sabadell .

After a hard-fought contest, most of the final votes in the Vive la Moto Salon went to Alfredo , the creation of Hakuba Motor , which will receive a new CB1000R as a prize . Loren Vidal, manager of the Cantabrian concessionaire, explains why Alfredo was called to his project: ” To reinforce the surprise effect in the contest, none of the participants could reveal the graphic design or the project that we were going to do. As our idea was to pay homage to Freddie Spencer , we thought about calling Alfredo to our project, without falling into that moment that Freddie’s translation was rather Federico, not Alfredo. But as we liked the name at the end we decided not to change. Our bike shows the same colors with which Freddie started in the 500cc World Championship . ”

” We want to convey that our commitment to the biker community does not end with the sales experience. That ours goes beyond the sale and that the personalization of the motorcycle is an area that we are more than willing to explore. Honda is an innovative manufacturer, who risks and competes to always be at the top. With our project we want to reflect and honor that tradition of innovation and competition, in an innovative and groundbreaking product “, concludes Loren Vidal.

Alfredo won after winning 41% of the votes , ahead of 35% of Nozomi , of VC Moto Sabadell , and 24% of Monkey Kong , the preparation of Mallorca Motos .

Winner and Finalist – Alfredo

1.- THE FINAL PHASE OF HONDA GARAGE DREAM’S CONTEST IS APPROACHING, IS IT BEING EASY TO COMBINE THE WORK OF THE WORKSHOP WITH THE PROJECT?

As you well know, for us the contest has only just begun, since we were the last registered, days after the inauguration of our concession. And, being aware of the deadline, we are working against the clock!

2.- WHO ARE THE MEMBERS OF YOUR PERSONALIZATION TEAM AND WHAT IS EACH ONE INVOLVED IN THIS PROJECT? HAS ANYONE MODIFIED A MOTORCYCLE BEFORE?

We are all contributing a little to the project. From the most obvious departments, such as mechanics, to administration.
Each one contributes something: ideas, management, solvency, experience … And that for us is the most important part of the contest. None of us had modified bikes with the pure purpose of “personalization” before.

3.- THE COMPETITION IS PART OF THE DNA OF HONDA, HOW ARE YOU LIVING THIS CONTEST FROM WITHIN?

It does not stop being that: competition. Against the other concessionaires. Against ourselves. Against the clock. And the most important: against our own expectations of how we want, believe and end up being the bike.

4.- AS FOR THE PERSONALIZATION OF THE MOTORCYCLE, HOW HAVE YOU BAPTIZED IT? WHAT OPTIONS AND ACCESSORIES HAVE BEEN CHOSEN, AND FOR WHAT PURPOSE?

Our motorcycle is called Alfredo. Very soon you will discover why.
Alfredo is coming !!

5.- WHAT MESSAGE DO YOU HOPE TO CONVEY WITH THE FINAL RESULT? WHY SHOULD THIS BE THE WINNING MOTORCYCLE AND NOT ANOTHER?

We want to convey that our commitment to the biker community does not end with the sales experience. That ours goes beyond the sale and that the personalization of the motorcycle is an area that we are more than willing to explore. Honda is an innovative manufacturer, who risks and competes to always be at the top.

With our project we want to reflect and honor that tradition of innovation and competition, in an innovative and groundbreaking product. We have not agreed to enter this contest for the mere fact of participating, in the same way that Honda does not invest years and resources in getting a product to market: We do it to win.

6.- WHAT IS THE MOST ENJOYING THE PROJECT? AND WHAT IS COSTING THEM THE MOST?

What we have enjoyed most have been the conversations. The afternoons spent on studying catalogs, websites and old magazines in order to get ideas in common. Obviously the counterpart is the implementation of these ideas: the implementation and management of such an ambitious project in such a short time.

7.- IF YOUR PERSONALIZATION IS PROCLAIMED WINNER IN VIVE LA MOTO, ARE YOU PLANNING ANY SPECIAL CELEBRATION?

Of course: Alfredo will be celebrated on the back of the one who gives it its name, and meaning, throughout the living room of Vive La Moto. Someone who inspired entire generations to enjoy both wheels.

Semi-Finalists

Monkey-Kong

1.- THE FINAL PHASE OF HONDA GARAGE DREAM’S CONTEST IS APPROACHING, IS IT BEING EASY TO COMBINE THE WORK OF THE WORKSHOP WITH THE PROJECT?
The illusion can do everything, and we take time out of where there is not, in the initial phase, we dedicate a full-time team member, since our transformation requires a great deal of personal work. To disassemble motor, frame, sub-chassis, suspensions, etc. It takes a lot of time. Surely the result will compensate all this work.

2.- WHO ARE THE MEMBERS OF YOUR PERSONALIZATION TEAM AND WHAT IS EACH ONE INVOLVED IN THIS PROJECT? HAS ANYONE MODIFIED A MOTORCYCLE BEFORE?
In the formation of our team we took into account that at least one person from each department would be involved, in order to involve all the parties in our company.

All the members of our team have experience in the world of transformations, including their own bikes that are already modified.

The participants of our team are the following:

Toni Manera (Workshop): technical realization
David Abellán (Workshop): technical realization
Miguel Ángel Bernabeu (Spare parts): supply and material search
Marc Nadal (After-sales consultant): management of external works
Xavier Nadal (Sales): project coordination
3.- THE COMPETITION IS PART OF THE DNA OF HONDA, HOW ARE YOU LIVING THIS CONTEST FROM WITHIN?
We are very excited, and every day that passes we are looking forward to the final photo session. The visits of the team to the work site where we made the preparation are constant, nobody wants to miss any progress on the bike.

4.- AS FOR THE PERSONALIZATION OF THE MOTORCYCLE, HOW HAVE YOU BAPTIZED IT? WHAT OPTIONS AND ACCESSORIES HAVE BEEN CHOSEN, AND FOR WHAT PURPOSE?
After several laps, we decided to baptize our bike as Monkey Kong, for obvious reasons. We wanted to join the relaunch of the “new Monkey” so we decided to build a replica of the Honda Monkey but bigger and more powerful. We thought about the biggest of the primates and King Kong appeared to us, so putting together the two names, this singular concept was born.

For the customization of this bike, we have thought of giving it a look as much as possible, as if the Honda itself, had brought this bike to market. This means that all the finishes must be perfect and very detailed, without great stridency and very subtle. For this purpose we have tried to follow the original scheme of colors, as well as 100% original replacement, the bike has not used any element that does not come from another model that Honda has in its range.

5.- WHAT MESSAGE DO YOU HOPE TO CONVEY WITH THE FINAL RESULT? WHY SHOULD THIS BE THE WINNING MOTORCYCLE AND NOT ANOTHER?
The message that we try to transmit with this motorcycle is the concept of fun, the Honda Monkey is a very fresh and carefree concept, it represents a lifestyle very present in our island, we wanted to transfer this same concept, but together with the great benefits of the CB 1000R, in this way the idea “BIG FUN” is born, a cool and powerful crossover. We believe that we should win because our bike gives you the best of both worlds, because in this life sometimes you do not have to choose and we can have it all!

6.- WHAT IS THE MOST ENJOYING THE PROJECT? AND WHAT IS COSTING THEM THE MOST?
Without a doubt, what we are enjoying the most is at the same time what is costing us the most, the personalization itself. On the one hand, the pertinent technical complications of the preparation, together with the considerable work that we are investing in having a high technical level, is what we are assuming more effort. On the other hand, the results that we are seeing each new piece, each finished detail, is very motivating. The desire to excel is the most rewarding part of the entire project.

7.- IF YOUR PERSONALIZATION IS PROCLAIMED WINNER IN VIVE LA MOTO, ARE YOU PLANNING ANY SPECIAL CELEBRATION?
The truth is that we have considered how we would celebrate it. During the construction of the bike, we thought about giving a bigger dimension to the project and we studied how we could do it so that it had a solidary purpose related to the Monkey concept. Researching a little, we found the Mona Foundation, which is dedicated to the recovery, welfare and conservation of primates. During the process we have contacted them to sponsor the cause and collaborate economically with the center. So if we win, the whole team will go to their facilities to learn more about the great work they are doing.

Nozomi

1.- THE FINAL PHASE OF HONDA GARAGE DREAM’S CONTEST IS APPROACHING, IS IT BEING EASY TO COMBINE THE WORK OF THE WORKSHOP WITH THE PROJECT?
It has been complicated, and we have hurried to the fullest, luckily or unfortunately, this time of year is usually a little more stopped, so between some gap we had and some more hours that have been working on the bike what we were able to finish on time.

2.- WHO ARE THE MEMBERS OF YOUR PERSONALIZATION TEAM AND WHAT IS EACH ONE INVOLVED IN THIS PROJECT? HAS ANYONE MODIFIED A MOTORCYCLE BEFORE?
The main team was formed by Arnau, Enrique and Juanjo, in the most technical part and then Javi and Marc who have collaborated in the conceptual part. Juanjo had already made some preparations before, with what has been the one that has carried the weight of the project.

3.- THE COMPETITION IS PART OF THE DNA OF HONDA, HOW ARE YOU LIVING THIS CONTEST FROM WITHIN?
Precisely that competition DNA is the source of inspiration for this bike and we believe that it is reflected in it, so we decided to incorporate a phrase from Soichiro Honda “Racing Improves the Breed”, in the end we tried to improve a series motorbike through of more “racing” elements.

From the inside it has been a very good experience, it has been a more complicated model than we expected, since it is a motorbike with a lot of personality, but at the end among the ideas of all I think we have been able to apply the style we wanted to the bike.

4.- AS FOR THE PERSONALIZATION OF THE MOTORCYCLE, HOW HAVE YOU BAPTIZED IT? WHAT OPTIONS AND ACCESSORIES HAVE BEEN CHOSEN, AND FOR WHAT PURPOSE?
Finally we have called it の ぞ み (Nozomi), which in Japanese means desire or hope, but it is also a tribute to the fastest “bullet train” in Japan.

It is a motorcycle based on the classic endurance bikes but with dirt-track capabilities, a sort of “Dirt Endurance”. The main changes have been to add the fairings, a dome more Racing, and we have changed the handlebar series for a semi-handlebar. At first, the idea was to make a motorcycle more circuit, but on the fly looking for ideas to get out a bit of the standard motorcycle circuit, we decided to add the off road touch , riding a tire with more cue.

5.- WHAT MESSAGE DO YOU HOPE TO CONVEY WITH THE FINAL RESULT? WHY SHOULD THIS BE THE WINNING MOTORCYCLE AND NOT ANOTHER?
As we have said, we wanted to convey the race DNA that Honda has had since birth, we think we have achieved it, we hope that people like it and win.

6.- WHAT IS THE MOST ENJOYING THE PROJECT? AND WHAT IS COSTING THEM THE MOST?
With what we have most enjoyed has been with all the design part, to share all the ideas to prepare the final project.

What has cost us the most has been to look for alternatives to the original plan due to a supplier problem, but in the end it was possible to solve it.

7.- IF YOUR PERSONALIZATION IS PROCLAIMED WINNER IN VIVE LA MOTO, ARE YOU PLANNING ANY SPECIAL CELEBRATION?
At the moment we have not been thinking about any special celebration, but if we win, we will prepare something.
