Gettin’ high on voltage

It’s time for a new offroad motorcycle segment! It’s time for more motorcycle freedom! It’s time for the Freeride E! With the revolutionary Freeride E, KTM takes lightweight, noise-free and agile offroad motorcycles where enduro riding was previously impossible: into the city! With 42 Nm of torque, up to 22 kW (30 hp) peak power and uninterrupted acceleration, it’s just as sporty as other KTM bikes. Only it needs recharging rather than refuelling.

2014 KTM Freeride E Totalmotorcycle.com Features and Benefits

STURDY ELECTRIC MOTOR

A disc armature design of brushless synchronous motor powers the KTM Freeride E. This low-wear, compact and slim power plant generates 42 Nm of torque from the first twist of the grip and ensures even power delivery. Designed for peak power of 22 kW (30 hp), the electric motor can supply 7.5 kW (10.1 hp) continuously. Twist and go. No clutch. No shifting: Simply twist the grip, ride off and have fun!

300V TRACTION BATTERY

Long-distance runner: The compact and easily replaceable battery provides 2.1 kWh of energy for more than 30 minutes’ riding pleasure. So that you can also ride while a second battery is being charged!

DUST AND WATERPROOF

Both the drive unit, with its electric motor and power electronics, and the battery are completely dust and waterproof. The Freeride E is therefore well prepared for the toughest offroad trips.

PERFECT HANDLING

The low seat height of 910 mm and weight of 95 kg turn the KTM Freeride E into a miracle of handling.

YOU CAN HANDLE ANYTHING

The brake system’s newly designed levers are to be found at the left and right of the handlebars. At last, there’s no need to grope for the brakes with your feet when preparing to drift. So that you always have the bike securely under control.

NO GEARBOX

The right gear is always engaged. Because the high-torque electric motor allows a fixed transmission ratio to be used. Hence, there’s no need for a clutch to get going. For beginners in particular, this makes things much simpler – twist the grip, ride off and have fun.

MADE IN AUSTRIA

With the Freeride E, KTM is setting new standards in respect of response, traction, performance and handling of a motorcycle. From the bottom up, the Freeride E is a completely new development “made in Austria”, because an electric bike is also subject to the same requirements in terms of performance, robustness and quality as all other motorcycles that leave the factory buildings in Mattighofen.

FRESH IMPETUS

KTM is endeavouring to give fresh impetus to the offroad segment. For this reason, KTM has developed an electrically driven, emission-free offroad bike with a battery that’s quickly replaced. This motor concept of the KTM Freeride E opens up completely new fields of use in urban and suburban areas and generates greater acceptance of offroad sport. All-terrain riding has never been easier!
