Drawing inspiration from the beloved Suzuki T500 “Titan” the new GSX-8T blends nostalgic character with a high-quality, timeless design and the performance to match — an identity that stands the test of time. The goal was not to simply recreate the past, but to reinterpret it with modern design sensibility — combining aesthetic appeal with contemporary styling and the latest technologies. The result is pure exhilaration designed to appeal to a variety of riders from veterans harkening back to their rides of yesteryear to younger riders who crave classic ambiance but expect up-to-date features and functionality.
The GSX-8T utilizes Suzuki’s latest-generation 776cc parallel twin engine, known for its strong torque delivery and proven performance in the GSX-8S and GSX-8R. Paired with electronic rider aids such as Bi-directional Quick Shift system and traction control, it offers modern technology in a rider-focused package that truly embodies the concept of “Retro Spirit, Next Generation Performance.”
The all-new GSX-8T is designed to evoke the T500, known as the Titan, a high-performance naked bike from the 1960s. It features a color scheme that highlights the tank by making the rear of the body matte black, and a 3D-raised emblem on the shroud inspired by the eight ball, which symbolizes a decisive move in billiards, resulting in a design that is both retro and modern.
*The Traction Control System is not a substitute for the rider’s throttle control. It cannot prevent loss of traction due to excessive speed when the rider enters a turn and/or applies the brakes. Traction control cannot prevent the front wheel from losing grip.
Drawn by designers in Italy and further sculpted in Japan, the 8T evokes the charm of classic bikes from the 70s and 80s, including the iconic Suzuki T500.
Character and Performance
First launched in 2023, Suzuki’s 776cc parallel twin engine has received global acclaim. DOHC and four valves per cylinder enable a free-revving nature, while its long stroke and 270° crankshaft design and a firing order on par with Suzuki’s V-twin engines give it plenty of torque and low-down drive, and an exciting exhaust rumble.
Suzuki Clutch Assist System (SCAS)
A slip and assist clutch leverages precision-engineered ramps to force the clutch boss and pressure plate together and efficiently transfer torque to the rear wheel under acceleration. It also partially disengages when downshifting and decelerating to mitigate the effect of engine braking, all while using softer clutch springs for a light lever action.
Innovative Balancer System
Suzuki’s patented biaxial primary balancer design is the first of its kind in production motorcycles, positioning two balancers at 90° to the crankshaft. This innovative layout reduces engine vibration for smoother performance while also contributing to a lighter, more compact engine design from front to rear.
One balancer counteracts the primary vibration caused by the reciprocating motion of the first cylinder’s piston, while the second does the same for the second cylinder. A 270° crankshaft angle helps eliminate secondary vibrations. By placing both balancers perpendicular to the crankshaft and equidistant from it, the system also effectively cancels primary couple vibration.
Quickshifter
A standard fitment bi-directional quickshifter means riders can go up through the gears without closing the throttle or operating the clutch lever. Downshifts, too, can be achieved without the use of the clutch lever or the need to blip the throttle to match engine speed.
Suzuki Drive Mode Selector (SDMS)
Three selectable engine maps means riders can choose the power delivery that best suits their mood or the riding conditions, from wet surfaces to busy commutes or sporty rides on twisty roads.
Mode A (Active) provides the sharpest throttle response as the throttle is opened. Settings for torque characteristics are tuned to deliver exciting acceleration and fully-leverage the engine’s power. It is well suited for enjoying sporty rides in good weather.
Mode B (Basic) reaches the same level of maximum output, but features a more linear curve with softer throttle response. Planned as an ideal setting for touring or commuting, this mode is a good fit for a wide range of riding styles and road conditions.
Mode C (Comfort) provides the softest throttle response and more gentle torque characteristics. This is particularly beneficial when touring for long distances, when riding with a passenger, when riding on wet or otherwise slippery surfaces, when road conditions are bad, or even when the rider wants to relax.
Traction Control
Regardless of the road conditions, riders can be confident when it comes to opening the throttle thanks to a traction control system that offers three levels of intervention, plus the ability to disengage completely. When engaged, the higher the number of the mode selected, the greater the level of intervention.

Suzuki launches new retro models: GSX-8T and GSX-8TT
Suzuki has launched two brand-new models on its award-winning 800cc platform, with the GSX-8T and GSX-8TT combining retro spirit with next generation performance. The 8T takes styling cues from classic bikes of the 1960s and 1970s, such as the iconic Suzuki T500, while the 8TT builds on that platform further but with inspiration coming from the faired race bikes of the period, such as the legendary Yoshimura GS1000 AMA superbike.
- Both models use Suzuki’s 776cc parallel twin engine with its 270° crankshaft design, which gives it unrivalled drive and lowdown power, while double overhead cams and four valves per cylinder enable a free-revving nature.
- The engine is housed in a twin-spar steel frame with a separate lightweight subframe. An electronics suite comprises traction control, power modes, a bi-directional quickshifter, and colour TFT screen.
- Both the 8T and 8TT get a new fuel tank, seat, seat unit, and handlebars complete with bar-end mirrors.
- The 8T adopts a new round headlight with full LED lighting, blending modern technology with classic styling. The 8TT adds a headlight cowling that shares more than a passing resemblance to vintage road race machinery from the 70s and 80s.
Design
The 8T and 8TT’s design brief was to produce two machines that embody the retro spirit of Suzuki’s heritage and iconic models of past decades. Drawn by designers in Italy and further sculpted in Japan, both models use a new 16.5-litre fuel tank, which connects each side to new radiator shrouds – brushed silver on the 8T and black on the 8TT – adorned with the circular GSX8 logo.
The 8T evokes the charm of classic bikes, and a new circular headlight design with a flat bottom section is further reminiscent of motorcycles of the 70s and 80s, though it is full-LED with a bright, horizontal LED strip across the middle.
Inspired by classic road race machines, the 8TT retains the same headlight unit as its 8T stablemate but wraps it in a cowling that bears a striking resemblance to the GS1000S of the late 1970s. It is fitted with a screen that further completes the look, as well as providing the functional benefit of added weather protection.
New circular bar-end mirrors ensure a sleek and low profile. Their design was refined to ensure visual harmony with the overall silhouette, and special attention was paid to detail, including hand-polishing the parting lines and gate marks of the aluminium die-cast stays. The mirrors offer excellent rearward visibility by minimising interference from the rider’s body.
Underneath the 776cc parallel twin engine, the 8TT also adopts a lower cowling, further enhancing its racier aesthetic.
A new seat, inspired by the tuck-and-roll seats of the 1960s and 70s slots onto the top of the subframe of the 8T. It features high-density foam cushioning for enhanced comfort and a premium riding experience. Additionally, the shape of the seat front improves ease of mounting and dismounting and provides excellent foot reach.
On the 8TT the seat still ensures a comfortable ride but is finished with a flatter top more reminiscent of race bike seats.
With a matt finish to its black seat unit, brushed radiator shrouds, gold forks, and black wheels, the GSX-8T will be available with a Candy Burnt Gold, Metallic Matt Steel Green, or Metallic Matt Black fuel tank.
The 8TT adds more pops of colour and retro racing flair thanks to striped decals on its tank and cowling, with matching wheels. A Glass Sparkle Black variant is offset by red wheels and red and gold decals, while a Pearl Matt Shadow Green version is completed with gold wheels and gold and bronze stripes.
Engine
While retro spirit comes from the styling of the 8T and 8TT, next generation performance is delivered by Suzuki’s award-winning 776cc parallel twin engine; widely praised for its drive from the bottom end and through its midrange, making it a useable, flexible, and fun powerplant. This character and punchy performance is enhanced by a 270° crankshaft design, helping fire the 8T and 8TT from corner to corner. Peak torque is 78Nm at 6800rpm, and peak power comes in at 82.9PS at 8500rpm.
A cross balancer reduces vibrations and aids in the motor’s compact design, and a short exhaust muffler keeps the bike’s side profile clean and compact while still providing an exciting exhaust note.
Chassis
Both models use the same steel frame and subframe, and aluminium swingarm. They are suspended by upside down KYB forks – gold on the 8T and black on the 8TT – and a KYB rear shock. Wide, tapered aluminium handlebars provide an engaging and comfortable riding position, offering plenty of leverage for steering input. Stopping power comes via twin 310mm discs up front with radially-mounted Nissin calipers, and a 240mm disc at the rear.
Electronics
Sat atop the retro headlight is a fully-modern colour TFT screen, displaying all the information the rider needs, including rev counter, speedo, and gear position indicator, as well as the selected traction control setting – with three available to choose from, plus off – and the chosen power mode from A, B, or C. Making for slick gear changes is a bi-directional quickshifter as standard, plus Suzuki’s easy-start and low RPM assist systems.
Both models also come with a USB Type-C socket as standard, which also supports fast charging.
Developed by Eliiy Power using advanced energy storage technology, a new, compact, lightweight battery offers reliability, durability, enhanced startability, and long life with minimal self-discharge.
Pricing and availability
The GSX-8T and GSX-8TT will come with an OTR price of £9,599 and £9,999 respectively and will be arriving in dealerships in the coming weeks. Both come with Suzuki’s standard three-year warranty plus up to seven-years extended warranty, activated by regular servicing at an authorised Suzuki dealership.

Engine Features
Suzuki’s renowned 776cc parallel-twin DOHC engine delivers a superb balance of smooth controllable torque-rich power from low RPM and freely revs up to its peak power output. The 270-degree crankshaft configuration provides a similar, but more powerful experience as provided by the 90-degree V-twin engine. Suzuki Cross Balancer technology, patented by Suzuki, helps create a compact, lightweight design that delivers smooth operation.
The 84mm cylinder bores inside the aluminum die-cast cylinders are plated using Suzuki’s SCEM process. Originally developed for racing and proven on the track, the SCEM cylinder promotes better heat dissipation, reduces friction, and provides a consistent wear resistant seal to the pistons’ rings. Dual, linked 42mm electronic throttle bodies use a newly configured Accelerator Position Sensor (APS) to provide an authentic response and feel to the rider’s throttle operation.
The GSX-8T has a distinctive short muffler design with a brushed heat shield so it looks as good as it sounds. Most of the exhaust system is located under the chassis in an optimal, centralized location that also benefits handling.
A large-capacity radiator effectively cools the parallel twin’s power output. A thermostatically controlled cooling fan helps stabilize coolant temperatures at low speed and stops.
The digital ignition fires iridium-type spark plugs that increase spark strength and combustion efficiency, contributing to higher power, more linear throttle response, easier engine start-up, and a more stable idle. These quality components also last longer than conventional spark plugs.
The unique cooling system inlet control thermostat valve helps maintain consistent engine temperature and smooths the idle speed during warm-up. This stabilizes combustion and can help reduce emissions. Additional heat is removed from the engine via the use of a lightweight and compact liquid-cooled oil cooler (like those used on certain GSX-R models).
Transmission Features
The six-speed transmission features gear ratios that deliver exciting acceleration, whether shifting normally or when using the standard-equipment Bi-directional Quick Shift system to shift without clutch operation.
The GSX-8T’s precise shift linkage helps the rider easily and quickly select the ideal gear for the riding conditions. A sensor on the shift rod sends shifter movement data to the ECM, so the Bi-directional Quick Shift system precisely responds to the rider’s actions.
The Suzuki Clutch Assist System (SCAS) manages the transmission’s output. This system works like a slipper clutch by allowing a small amount of clutch slip for smoother downshifts. The SCAS also works as an assist clutch, increasing plate pressure under acceleration, but always keeps the clutch lever’s pull light and precise.
Riding on durable steel sprockets, a strong O-ring style drive chain contains lubrication pre-packed between the pins and rollers for quiet, reliable operation.
Chassis Features
The GSX-8T debuts Suzuki’s first handlebar end mirrors that combine a classic look with refined functionality. Positioned at the bar ends, they reduce interference with the rider’s body while contributing to a more open forward field of view and an improved rearward view.
With an exclusive tuck-and-roll appearance, the GSX-8T’s seat features classic contours and a refined surface texture for a premium look and feel. A careful sculpture of the center and side foam yields a seat which provides superb overall support and a sure knee grip while delivering long-distance comfort.
The link-type mono-shock KYB rear suspension is set up to contribute to straight-line stability and agility, even when carrying a passenger. Rear wheel travel is 5.1 in. (130 mm). The cam-style spring preload adjuster is particularly useful when heading out to ride tandem or adding cargo.
The 4.3-gallon (16.5L) fuel tank’s shape is tapered to flow into the front of the rider’s seat, creating additional clearance for the rider’s knees.
With a low height of 32.0 inches (815 mm) the seat contributes to the GSX-8T’s sporty, yet upright riding position that also helps riders plant their feet on the ground when stopped.
The KYB-supplied inverted fork has 41mm inner tubes with 5.1-inches (130 mm) of travel that delivers a plush, smooth ride thanks to carefully selected spring rates and damping characteristics that are well suited to sporty rides or long-distance runs.
Suzuki Intelligent Ride System (S.I.R.S.) Features
S-DMS provides the rider with a choice of three different engine power output modes. Working in concert with the Traction Control System*, S-DMS permits peak power in each mode while changing the nature of the power delivery. These three modes (A, B, and C) provide the rider a quick and effortless way to alter the GSX-8T’s power delivery characteristics.
The four-mode STCS on the GSX-8T lets the rider control the throttle with more confidence by limiting rear wheel spin in a variety of riding conditions. The rider can select one of four modes (1, 2, 3, and OFF). The three active modes differ in terms of rear wheel spin sensitivity.
Ride-by-Wire Electronic Throttle System uses the capability of the GSX-8T’s 32-bit, dual-processor ECM, and CAN-bus wire harness to convert throttle grip movement and sensor input into instantaneous and precise throttle plate movement in the two 42mm throttle bodies.
Bi-directional Quick Shift System (QS) allows the GSX-8T rider to shift up or down quickly and easily, without operating the clutch or throttle. To ensure smoother upshifts, QS automatically interrupts power delivery just long enough to produce smooth, almost uninterrupted acceleration.
The Suzuki Easy Start System allows the rider to easily start the engine with a single, momentary press of the starter button. In any weather condition or with any engine temperature, there is no need to hold down the starter button until the engine fires. The ECM manages Easy Start so that the starter motor automatically stops once the engine has started.
The Low RPM Assist System seamlessly increases engine speed to smooth the power delivery when launching from a standing start or riding at low speeds, which helps ensure better control and operation in stop-and-go traffic. The system also minimizes the possibility of the rider stalling the motorcycle during take-off.
Electrical Features
Traditionally inspired, the GSX-8T’s round headlight assembly employs a pair of high- and low-beam LED light emitters to provide clear and bright illumination of the road ahead.
The GSX-8T’s standard USB Type-C power socket is conveniently located on the left side of the instrument panel’s mount.
An innovation in lithium-ion motorcycle battery technology, the GSX-8T debuts the HY battEliiy P-series battery which offers clear advantages over conventional lead-acid batteries. This high-capacity, lithium-ion battery, developed by ELIIY Power, provides reliability, durability, enhanced starting, and long life with minimal discharge.
The GSX-8T instrument panel uses a full-color, 5-inch TFT screen that is brightness adjustable and can be set up for manual or automatic switching between Day Mode (white background) or Night Mode (black background).
The GSX-8T’s lightweight and low-draw LED turn signals are mounted in thin, arrow-shaped housings mounted to the headlight cowl and to the side of the rear LED taillight.
Body & Styling Features
The GSX-8T’s next generation engine and modern chassis gets a new styling direction that pays homage to Suzuki street bike tradition, but in a unique way that appeals to a wide range of riders. Inspired by historical Suzuki standard motorcycles such as the T500 Titian, the GSX-8T arrives with stellar performance and a fresh face created by the trim headlamp cowl.
The engine side covers have a black finish that complements the GSX-8T’s overall appearance, creating an understated, refined look. The Suzuki name is highlighted in silver on these covers to help highlight the engine’s mechanical appeal and emphasize the GSX-8T’s performance-focused character.
The 2026 GSX-8T offers two body color choices Candy Burnt Gold (QSY) and Metallic Matte Black (YKV), both highlight the traditionally styled fuel tank and the abbreviated radiator shrouds without distracting from the parallel-twin engine.
The GSX-8T features the fresh GSX-8 family font motif with raised Suzuki logos on the fuel tank plus new 3-D model badges inspired by the look of a pocket-billiards 8-ball.
